I don't have AAA. However, it sounds as if it's only $60/annual fee - thus worthwhile if I'm going to Disney.

I'm planning a week long WL trip for 2 rooms. Using AAA is a big discount right? If so - can I still get a package deal. I'm hesitant to book through AAA just because I like to be in control of my reservation and want to use a code if it becomes available and is cheaper than AAA.

Any advice...what's the down side of booking directly through Disney and using the AAA code?

I'm confused.

My AAA travel agent (PM me if you want her contact info) wonderfully already applied the new discount code to our ressie. So I am assuming she canceled our AAA discount part and applied just the general public code. We have a package with the dining plan and park hoppers. I used AAA incase a public code didnt come out I would still get a little discount.

We booked through AAA and received the discount back in March. New visa codes came out, called them up and they checked and applied the code and got me an additional $255 off the package. I say it was worth it to use AAA. You are correct it cost us $58 for 2 people.

We booked a room-only reservation through WDW directly. I also like to keep control of our reservation and dont want to do a package. You can get the AAA rate on a room-only directly through Disney. (in fact, you can book it, decide if the discount is enough for you, then get your AAA card). We're saving about $50 per night on our AKL reservation, so to us it is worth it. (Actually, I've always had AAA since I started driving -- you also get towing and FREE driving maps).

If you want a package deal, you'll have to book through AAA.

For us, the package deal is not a better deal, but for some people it is.

I was disappointred with my AAA travel agent. I called her regarding the new codes. She called me back and said they were limited and could not be applied. I doubt she really even called. Then there was an issue with our request. When we booked she said we were getting a pool view. Considering it was little cheaper than a standard view from Disney I figured I'd take it. After getting our paperwork from AAA I realized it was a standard view with a pool and bunkbed request. I called her explaing that a pool view was an actual category and not a request per se. After several rounds of bad information and a TA who knew alot less than I did I decided to call the CRO and book my own package. I was ABLE to use the code and I saved nearly $800 :cool1: . AAA is a great service but some of their staff need training........
