I'm trying to figure out the ideal number of points to buy but I'm confused by the points charts for AKV.

I'm needing a 1 bedroom that sleeps 5. Are the value one-bedrooms the rooms that sleep 4? And the standard & up all sleep 5? Can someone help me out on this? Thanks. :)

We haven't stayed at AKV yet, but from everything I understand the Value rooms are smaller and they don't have the chair that folds out to make a single bed. That would mean they only sleep 4.

Yes, Value rooms only sleep 4 so you'd need a standard 1 bedroom.

Thanks. Good to know I was finally right about something! ;) As straightforward as all this DVC stuff is, it sure is confusing. :upsidedow

Study the points charts! I didn't look that hard at them, but if I did I would have bought about 20 more. I know I can add on but who knows if I will.:confused3

What happens when the new part opens up, Kidani Village? We have been told those rooms will be larger than those in the existing building. Will they redo the point charts?:confused3

No,they will not redo the charts. The villas will be a little larger. The other big advantage is that in a 1 br there will be 2 full baths, in a 2 br there will be three.

No, the point charts are set for both of the AKV sites. The value rooms are a lower point option, and since Jambo is the only one with value rooms, there would be no need to redo them.

We are a family of five from Calgary. We have started (emphasis on the started:lmao: ) off with 225 points with a trip planned every other year. Decide how often you want to go and how long and figure out the point amounts for that time and that gives you a general idea of what to buy.

Thanks drag n' fly. I've done a search but can't seem to find an answer. What are the implications of being a Canadian buying DVC? I'm assuming that we don't qualify for DVC's financing (although I'm fairly certain we wouldn't use it anyways). Is there anything unusual for us in the process?

The guide told us Canadian are still able to get financing through Disney. But the rate is a bit over 10% and it is not worth it. Unless you live in Ontario, you can't buy DVC from Disney unless you go down to WDW or any of the DVC center. Disney will not sell DVC over the phone for any Canadian who live outside of Ontario.

It takes a while to start feeling comfortable with all the ins and outs of DVC! Not sure we're quite there yet either and we've been members since 2004.:upsidedow Good luck with your purchase!
