Hi everyone!

We closed Thursday on a 50 point OKW contract. Very excited. I know it will take 7 days to be in the Disney system but out of excitement, my husband called yesterday - just to see if we were in yet. He knew the answer would be "no" but he didn't even get that far. They told him that without a "member number" they would not even speak to him. I thought we could get access to the points (once we were in) with our social security number. They shut him down without even asking for his name. Did we do something wrong? I really don't want to wait the several weeks for our member number as we have some banked points (that came with the contract) that we need to make reservations for as soon as possible. Thanks for any help.

MS needs your member number to access your account. As soon as you learn what your member number is, you'll be able to call and make reservations.

They can look up the number. They should not have refused discussion based on not having the member number in hand. It may be that the names are loaded in but not all the info. I'd call them again today and keep calling back until I got an appropriate interaction.

Others have reported that MS could (and did) look them up by SSN. Perhaps your husband got an inexperienced CM. In any case, it's too bad he got shut down so abruptly.

If it were me, I'd try again about 1 week after closing and if I got the same treatment/answer, I'd call back and very politely ask for a supervisor. Best time to call is mid-afternoon, when they aren't as busy as other times.

Good luck - and Congratulations and WELCOME HOME!

Welcome to the world of Member Services.

I recommend that everyone answer yes when prompted on the phone if they will participate in the satisfaction survey.

You will find that you will get different levels of service and knowledge when dealing with the Advisers.

You should call back and try again.

:) Bill

Try calling on Monday and speak with Member Accounting. They are the ones who set up your account and know how to look you up by your contract information. Have your closing paperwork handy when you call. If you are not in the system yet, they should be able to give you some idea when you should call back, based on their current work load. Good luck!

Similar situation here as well. Contract closed and deed sent to DVC for transfer yesterday. I called today knowing it was too early but I opted to complete a post-call survey ;) and got a very friendly person. She tried looking my membership number up by my name and SSN (or at least she told me she did!) and we were not entered yet. She said to call back in a couple of days. She also said they could help me with banking any points even if I was out of the window since I was a 1st timer. Very nice, very friendly. I'll try again in a couple of days.

Call every day or every other day. Mine showed up in 3 days, when it said it would take 7. :) I WAS super excited. Tell them you just closed and do not know your member # and see if they can look it up for you and see if you are in there yet.
