confused about wait list

We are on the Wait List to switch from a 2 bdrm. to a 1 bdrm. at Saratoga. Out of curiosity I tried to book the same room, not as a DVC member, and there was plenty of availability. What's up with that?

Two different inventories. Those available through CRO are ones that DVC has as the part of the percentage of the resort it keeps (about 4%), ones they get as a result of members trading out to non-DVC resorts, and ones DVC still has a result of having unsold portions of the resort. For DVC inventory you are competing with the more than 30,000 members who already own at SSR and owners of other DVC resorts if you are within the 7 month window. With CRO available rooms, you are competing with non-owners. A large percentage of the latter group do not make reservations until closer to the intended date of arrival than members usually do and thus inventory can still be readily available just a few months out.
