Confused about transfer paper

I have a design that I made myself, but it doesn't have a background as such, it is transparant. I want to put them on grey and blue t-shirts.

I am confused as to whether I should use dark or light transfers. I thought I should use dark, but have now read that the transparant part will show white. But if I use light, will the design show up on non-white t-shirts?

Please help!

I made grey shirts last year and used the light transfer paper. It looked great. the design will show up on non white shirts.

I used light transfers on light beige shirts and it looked great. Once I washed them, they didn't look anywhere near as good as the shirts I had used dark transfers on. I don't know if it was just me. Now I try to always use the dark trasnfers.

All white areas of your design will be the shirt color (using light transfers). So picture your design with light gray where the white should be. That is how it will look.

With dark transfers, all the white areas AND transparent areas will be white.

I hope this helps!
