Confused about ticket prices.

I am comparing the ticket prices on the Universal and Undercovertourist websites. I am trying to decide whether to get an annual pass right away or start with or a 2 day + 2 day ticket.

Anyway, my question is this: I've seen posts saying that it's a good idea to buy the 2 day + 2 day ticket, then upgrade at the park to an annual pass. I'm concerned that would save less than $12, while potentially risking the extra 3 month promotion that comes with the seasonal annual pass. (I thought I read fine print saying that the offer for the extra 3 months that comes with the seasonal annual pass can't be combined with any other offer, which might (?) include starting with the 2 day + 2 day promotional ticket???)

If I'm understanding this correctly, if I buy an annual pass from Universal initially, it would cost $324.82 including tax. Alternately, if I buy the 2 day + 2 day pass from Universal, it would cost $282.22 including tax. The same pass from undercovertourist would cost $270.95 including tax. If I want to upgrade at the park, and I buy my ticket from undercovertourist, do they assume an upgrade from the Universal ticket price, or from the price I paid at undercovertourist? I think the upgrade would be +$53.87 if they base the upgrade from the undercovertourist price, and +$42.60 from the Universal price. But the difference of $11.27 would certainly not be worth losing the extra 3 months. Is my math correct? Would I risk losing the extra 3 months that I would get by buying the annual pass to begin with instead of upgrading? Thanks for any help!!

You'd get credit for the price of the 2 day promo pass, based on Universal prices - PRE-tax. They don't have a way of seeing any discounts you get. And I have asked the question about the promo months as well, someone confirmed that they upgraded while on site recently and were given the promotional months. It could be a similar situation to upgrading at Disney (you might have to try more than one employee to get what you're asking for, and know going in what you expect to pay for upgrades.

I was told but Universal that if you upgrade at the park you will not get the extra months added. I got that in a email as well

That;s what I was told as well, however someone commented shortly after that they were able to do it in the park. YMMV, it happens at Disney too that it may depend on the person you get at the counter - there's never a guarantee that they'll continue to offer the extra 3 months all the way through March either, so it's just a matter of the risk you want to take (savings by waiting and trying to upgrade at the park or guaranteeing the extra months by paying more now)

I’m on a UO moderated FB page, and they have stated clearly that you get the promo.

It’s possible someone tried on the first day and didn’t get it. First days of promos are always hard. But they could call back.

I think the confusion about whether the promo months would be added lies in the the verbiage in the fine print that it "cannot be combined with other offers or applied to previous offers" - but I think the consensus was that it was referring to prior Annual pass offers. I also wonder if the clause covers them from applying 4 day ticket values to the 2 + 2 tickets. They will apply the value of 2 day tickets even though "technically" it's a 4 day pass, because it's a promo value.

We upgraded loyalty tickets on Friday and got the promo. It cost us $40 to upgrade a 2 day ticket to a Seasonal Pass that will expire in January 2020.

If you purchase the 2+2 tickets, expect to get credit for the price that the 2+2 promo tickets are on the Universal website and expect to pay the difference from there.
