Confused about Resort Airline Check-in - who's eligible?

So, first - do you have to be riding ME to use RAC? I've read accounts of people checking in their luggage at the resort and hopping in their rental car to tour around for the day before driving themselves to MCO.

Second - Can guests of S/D walk their luggage over to another Epcot resort RAC and checkin luggage there? Again, not using ME, obviously. Can they print your flight information and check your bags if you aren't a guest of a Disney owned hotel?

Thanks!

You have to be staying at a Disney resort to use RAC and ME. You can only check in at your designated hotel. There is another thread at the top of this forum that deals with checking your luggage and not riding ME.

No and no.

That thread only applies to arrival.
RAC is only for departure.

Anyone who is staying at a WDW owned resort (S/D are not) is able to use RAC for checking their bags and getting boarding passes. BUT....only certain airlines participate in this program. So check the stickied thread regarding this.
You do not need to take DME back to MCO to use RAC. You can take a cab, a rental car, or use a car service.

Using RAC is a perk of staying at a WDW resort.

Thanks for being so specific. Good to know. I learn something new all the time, even after all these years. I was pretty sure we'd be ineligible at S/D, but it's nice to have the info that RAC is separate from your choice of transportation.

Think of RAC as curbside check-in, except the curb is at your hotel instead of the airport.
