Confused about Photopass

I have a few questions about photopass:

1. I have read that you can preorder your photopass CD before you go. Why is it better to do this?

2. I have seen some posts about $99 photopass CD. All I can see on the website is $149 with a $15 off special right now. Am I missing something?

3. The last trip we used photopass, the smallest size picture you could order was wallets or 5x7 I think. I just remember you couldn't order the normal size pics to put in your own album. Can you do this now?

Thanks for the help.:goodvibes

1. It is $50 cheaper to pre-purchase.

2. Here is the link to pre-purchase.

3. Standard photo albums take 4x6 photos and you can order prints of those on the website. But if you buy the CD, you can size them however you need on the website (before getting the CD) and print them anywhere you want. We've been doing the Photopass for about 3 years and I've always had photos sized as 4x6 on the website. I think the default used to be 5x7 but you were always able to change it. I thought I read recently that the default is now 4x6, but I'm not sure, I didn't pay that much attention when I was doing a Photopass CD last month.

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't know how I missed the link for $99; I looked on special offers and it wasn't there.:confused3

Just to clarify(because my brain goes into neutral sometimes:sad2:), if I order the CD I can print pictures anywhere, not just on the photopass site? The prices for their pictures are so pricy it seems.

Don't feel bad - you can't find the link on their site at all. It's not advertised on their site.

And yes, that is the whole point of the photo CD -you can edit, crop, add borders, etc. and get them printed wherever you want. They send you a release for personal use & printing that you can give to your photo processing place if they ask for it. It only takes about 6-7 prints from the Disney site to equal the price for the whole pre-purchased CD, so if you have that many photos that you would have purchased as prints from them, you have already broken even. You can also get your pre-payment back after your trip if you decide not to order the CD.

Sounds great!:thumbsup2 Oooh, you mean that I could view my photos from my photopass card, and if the pics are all terrible, I don't have to order the CD and I get my $99 back? That's awesome.

Wow I didn't know you could ask for a refund on it. I have never bought PhotoPass because I'm cheap. But if it's $99 and I can get my money back if there aren't enough pics to make it worth that much, then I am in. Any comments, esp. anybody that has returned it? Sorry to thread-jack, but your initial question was good! Thanks!

I have heard a number of people who asked for a refund and got one with no problem. As long as you don't actually order the CD by putting in your cart and checking out. Once you order it - then you're out of luck since they would have no way of knowing if you copied the photos. (There is some time limit for requesting a refund - I think it might be 10 days after your trip - or maybe 10 days after the last photo was taken, because how would they know when your trip ended?).

To me, the PP pre-purchase is really risk-free, as long as you have the $$ up front to pay for it. That's why we always do it. Even for a one night (MNSSHP) and 1 day trip last fall, we still got enough photos to make it more than worthwhile - which was crazy, but true! Lots of party photos.
