Confused about paying for CRT with credit card, when on Dining Plan!

I'm sure this would have been asked before, so sorry in advance!

I'm hoping to make a CRT reservation this weekend for our January trip. We'll be on the Deluxe Dining Plan.

I'm just a bit confused about pre-paying for CRT when we will be on the dining plan. I don't really get it!

Because... we'll be using 2 dining credits each to eat there. So if we pay for it on our credit cards, won't we actually be paying for it twice?

In this instance, does anybody know what happens? Do they refund your credit card once you've paid with dining plan credits?

In the past, my card was NEVER charged for the meals. Not at reservation making time, nor at the meal. I suspect that it would have been if we did not show up for the reservation- I think it was used to HOLD the reservation. I used the dining plan credits to "pay" for the meal. This confused me at first as well. This is also why my brother-in-law receives a color coded schedule so he knows what he either MUST attend or must give up dining credits for payment (ie Luau, Hoop Dee Doo, Cinderella, etc.) Maybe others have had different experiences, but this has been mine.

You only gice your credit card to hold the reservation. Nothign is charged at all before or after. It is incase you dont't show up or cancel at the last minute. As long as you show up you use your dining credits. Have fun!!

That has been my experience also. I believe your card is only charged if you do not show without calling and cancelling. I actually had to gove my card for my adr at Cali Grill this year. I don't think I had to do that before.

While the above comments are USUALLY true, at the moment they are incorrect.

As it was explained to me at this moment none of the 2009 packages are out yet. So if you book CRT this weekend you will indeed be charged in full for the booking because you are not on a dining plan because they are not out for sale yet.

Go ahead and book and pay for CRT in full now. Later when you book the dining plan for 2009 you can call back Disney Dining and request a refund since you will be using your dining credits and they will gladly refund your money and hold it against your dining credits.

We have had our credit card charged unexpectedly after being told it was only to guarentee the reservation. I was so upset because I used my debit card and had the amount for 7 people taken to my surprise. I called to ask what happened to make sure I am not going to be charged the credits when we dine there the CM said she would mark it paid insted of DDP. When I called back the next CM said that it still just stated guarentee and that she would put another note on it. I will now try again tomorrow to see if it was fixed. This was for a Thanksgiving reservation

I booked CRT before the dining packages came out...we hadn't added dining to our package/room yet and I was charged for the reservation at CRT....but I knew they would do that so I had the money ready. When we finally booked with the dining plan on our package, we called back and they credited my card and the DDP was charged for that meal when we arrived.

Everyone is guessing 2009 WDTC packages will become available next month sometime. And those packages is where the 2009 DDP comes into play.

I was told by Disney Dining that once you are able to add the 2009 Dining Plan to your package that you can have your credit card credited. I did not verify the guarantee part though. Makes me nervous that I won't get the credit in a timely fashion.

I had booked CRT with a CC a couple weeks before free dining promo came out. After I booked free dining I called to see if I could get the $ put back on credit card and use DDP. The CM said it could take up to a couple billing cycles, but it was so quick that the charge and the credit were actually on the same statement. LOL You may want to call and double check if it has already been a couple billing cycles.

I don't know about the just holding the credit card in case you don't show. I went twice once in Sept 2006 dinner at the CRT my card was charge & it was on next statement same for the one I had in Dec 2006. If I wanted to use my DDP credits I had to call 48 hrs beforehand, and then they credit my account we left it on the card. Maybe the changed since then

From one aussie to another, be aware that being a overseas transaction any transaactions may take up to 21 days to clear onto your card and they can hold the money for all that time.

Great news - I just called and made my ADR for dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table!

The helpful CM on the phone took my credit card details and explained that they would charge the card now, but once dining plan details for next year have been released, we need to call again and they will refund the money back onto the credit card.

Easy - no major hassles at all!

your card is definitely charged when you make the reservation. they will refund you if you use dining plan credits. We did this last October and had the dining plan on our reservation. We were told that they would charge our card and refund us at the restaurant. I think this is the only restaurant that does this.

From my experience.....

Your card is not chanred unless you do not show up for your reservation. They do reserve the rights to "hold" those funds, however.

Is this still the same? I have to pay for the meal even thoug I have a dining plan? I want to make an ADR tis morning and the screen says it will charge me fo rthe cost of the meal. So do I have to call ot make that ADR?
