Okay, so I'm trying my best to book a dinner @ Ohana's on our upcoming vacation and am finding ZERO good dinner times. As a matter of fact, the only time that keeps popping up is 9:30 at night:confused3 Who eats this late? Why would Disney Dining even schedule that late and the place has to close not long after so what kind of experience would you even get eating that late? I'm bummed that I can't book for Ohana's:mad: Really wanted to since we are staying at the Poly but no luck at all. Guess all I can do is keep checking for possible cancellation but don't want to miss out on having a dinner planned. Maybe I should just stick with the dinner @ the GF with Cinderella. We did that one in 2008 when we were staying @ the GF and it was WONDERFUL. Any feedback would be great...Thank you!

this is b/c it's a very popular restaurant. I have never gotten in @ all yet. This year we hope to. When is your trip? Just wondering how far in advance you tried making reservations?

If it helps we had an ADR at Cali Grill after 9pm we were able to see the fireworks before we got our appetizer so it was near to 10pm before we got our entrees and it the food was still wonderful.

With places like Ohana's being known as a good spot to see the fireworks bookings this late are offered.

We just made sure that we ate a later lunch and so we would not have to wait so long for dinner. Granted it is only DH and I so no kidos to worry about.

Keep trying as things do open up, particularly right before the 45 day mark. There are also threads on here where people post when they're going to cancel their ADRs (such a great idea!!!) so look for the month of your trip and subscribe-- might help you snag something that way.

They book so late in the evening for a few reasons. Some people like to eat that late; not everyone has kids, and some are from other time zones so 9:30 is more like 5:30 to them (I'd hate to be them in the morning!). It's also wildly popular so they keep it open as late as possible to accommodate as many diners as they can (ie so they can make money).

As the pp said, Ohana's is very popular and is a hard place to get into :(. I would book a second choice for that night but keep checking to see if anything earlier opens up for Ohana's ;). If you happen to find an opening, make that ADR asap and cancel the other.....but at least you'll have something should nothing become available at Ohana :).

It is very popular and the earlier times book very fast. As to who would eat that late, I've been there that late before. Those who are not dining with children (not everyone at WDW is accompanied by children) may appreciate that the children's entertainment ends at 9:30. Plus, there are diners who say one of their main reasons for booking there is because you can see the fireworks over the castle at MK, and sometimes the fireworks show is at 10.

I also like the 9:30 show at Hoop de Doo - I can get a discount on that.

I think it all depends on how busy the restaurant is as to what kind of service you'd get at that time. Somewhere as popular as Ohana, you'd probably be fine. Beware eating that late at a signature, though...we showed up for a 9:30 res once and half the lights were off with chairs turned up on tables already. Super-rushed service and the kitchen was clean and dark before our check was even brought out.

I think we need more information about when your trip is.... sounds like it is just booked for the nights you are trying to get. It may be due to the popularity of the restaurant and the time of year you are visiting WDW.

Oddly enough, the answer to the question you asked about " Who would eat this late? " is about half of the world. People from Europe and the majority of the Brazilians would consider this an early dinner. It is not uncommon to walk into a restaurant down here at 1130pm-1am and see them full of Brazilians or Europeans.

we are late eaters, it was hard trying to find anything past 10:00 even on a saturday:confused3. i wish they had a 24 hour restuarant.
we got adrs at ohana for our september trip at 8:20, the only reason is for wishes

Reservations will open up - when I need a O'Hana reservation, I check the online dining system multiple times per day. I wanted to eat at O'Hana's for our last trip in Sept, but didn't add the dining plan until about a month before, so all of the ADR's were already taken. I started checking multiple times per day, and by the time we left, had reservations for the exact date and time that we wanted to dine at O'Hana's. It took some work, but paid off in the end.

Also when trying to get a ressie put in a specific time and it will show you what's available closest to that (usually within a 3 hour window), people have found that by putting in "dinner" it shows up later times even if there are some normal earlier ones available! Can't hurt to try that. ;)
