In March, we will be spending our first extended stay at WDW. We will be in Orlando for 10 days (9 nights) total and plan to purchase an expiring multi-day Park Hopper ticket. More than likely, we will only go to the Disney parks on 7 of our 10 days, but we want to have flexibility as to which days we will go. If we purchase a 7-day ticket, can we spread out those 7 days over the course of our 10-day trip or do the 7-day tickets expire 7 days after our 1st usage? Please advise. Thanks.

The tickets are good for 10 days from first use. You can use them at any time during those 10 days. Example: You can use the 1st ticket on the first Monday you are there, and for the second visit you can go on Thursday and the 3rd visit on Friday etc etc etc.

Tickets expire 14 days after the first use, not 10.

That preposition is important too.

It's 14 days FROM the first use. Meaning the first day you use it counts as one of those 14 days.

For the extra it costs for non-expiring....I'd buy the non-expiring, and the next time you come down you will be able to use whatever is left over.....a lot moe flexible than the expiring passes, and will go up in value on your next trip and you won't have to lay out anything extra!!!!

The tickets are good for 14 days after you activate them, you can add the non expiring option anytime after you have activated them but before they expire. If you have three days left and they were originally a 10 day ticket then I believe you would have to pay the 10 day price of $100 per ticket to make them not expire. If you think you will ever go back it is definitely worth doing this when you figure that tickets will most likely go up in price every year or so, but will never go down in price.

Unless you know that you want to make two trips to WDW and you know that the total number of days for both will only be ten days (two trips of five), then in my mind, the no-expire isn't worth it. It's about $600 for my family of 3 to go for 5,6, or 7 days (the price structure is such that once you get to 4-5 days, it's only $10 more for one more day). But to then upgrade to on-expire cost an additional $300.

Since I don't know how long it will be before I get back to WDW, I just can't justify the added expense.

[Edit]
I guess the real point... No Expire might sound nice, but it isn't cheap.

It all comes down to your per day cost, frequency of your visit and having the money to buy long term tickets up front. the 2 best deals are 7 day or 10 day tickets. I just bought 2 7 day passes from ticketmania 286 total cost which is 40.85 per day tax included. a 10 day gets even cheaper per day but the upfront money get higher! a one park one day ticket will soon be almost 70 bucks with tax. IF you have the money buy and save. I just miss the good ol days when you could sell them if u decided not to use them.
