Confused about linking FP+

DS is going to be there 4 days before we arrive (staying Wed - Sun) and has a separate reservation he is staying 5 days. I have used FP+before just for DH & me but don't know how to link our families together. Can I make all of the reservations for them even though DH & I won't be there for 4 days? Also they will be leaving 5 days before us so can I still make FP+ for us after they have checked out? Granddaughter will be 2 so there are a lot of rides it will be just me and her so DH, DS, and DDIL can do some of the bigger rides together. I think I have it figured out how to book different FP+ since we would be linked. My main question is when would we be able to make FP+ his day is July 16 and mine is July 20.

Everyone makes an MDE account with an email address. Then send family/friend email invites to join your MDE friends and family. When everyone accepts then you can see everyone's name available to make FP selections. So as long as everyone's linked and select "I travel with this person often", anyone can make FP's for others regardless of when they go to the park

FP selections for on site are 60 days out from your first day. Offsite and AP's are 30 days out and a total of 7 days of FP's within that 30 day period.

So if you guys are going in just a few days, you could've made FP's beginning last month for off site

We have 6 people this trip, my mom and sister are traveling with us but are in a different room. In order for me to manage their fast passes I had to put their reservation on my account. Not sure if there is any other way to do it. I would guess that you could make FP+ for his party on July 16 and yours on July 20.

I decided to just wait until my day for FP+ and then link our reservations in my MDE and make them then. DS has been many times over the years but doesn't think they will need and FP+. Thinks the little rides (Small World etc) won't have lines so I'm just going to make FP+ for things that they will use (Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh etc). I did a search and found a thread that Robo gave a link step by step for how to do it. You can always count on Robo for great info.
