HI! I am new here and just learning. Can I run a scenario by you? If I buy resale to get into DVC today but then add on points from DVC at the new Grand Californian, do I get priority to book 11 months out at both places? So let's say I have 100 points at AKV and 100 points added on at the new GCV, can I book each of those 100 points at 11 months? Or do I have to choose a home resort and get booking priority just at that one?

I guess I am wondering if I will have to buy another full contract from DVC when the time comes to get priority in booking.

THanks, Rod

Yes! You however cannot use your AKV points to books GCV at 11 months. They can only be booked at the 7 month mark and vice/versa using your GCV points to book AKV at the 11 month mark. If you buy your contract directly through Disney at DL you will get first dibs at the GCV when they go on sale. I am sure even if you don't their will be lots of points left over once the first bunch sells anyways.

Ok, sorry to be so dense. If I own resale 100 points at AKV and then add on 200 points at GCV, I can't book GCV at the 11 month mark since AKV is my first and home resort? Just want to make sure I get this. Rod

No rules relating to booking have yet been established at all for GCV but we all expect they will be the same as the other resorts. Assume you have 100 AKV and 100 GCV points. It matters not which you bought first. You can use those AKV points to book AKV at 11 months out and at other resorts, including GCV, at 7 months out. You can use those 100 GCV points to book GCV at 11 months out and at other resorts, including AKV, at 7 months out. When you own at two resorts you just need to think of yourself as being two separate members, one with AKV points and the other with GCV points, when it comes to the window for booking. You don't have one home resort, you have two, but each has its own points attached to it.

you have 2 distinct home resorts - you get the 11 month booking window at each home resort but not both combined - the points remain separate until 7 months out.

if you need more points at 11 months, you would need to bank or borrow from that home resort's allocation of points. you will not be able to use the other home resort's points at 11 months.

Quick example: If you own a 100 points at both resort (200 total) and you want to make a reservation at AKV that takes 150 points at the 11 month mark you can borrow the extra 50 points you need from your next Use Year of AKV points but you cannot use GCV points to complete the reservation. This example work the same way if you want to make that reservation for 150 points at GCV. You can make it at the 11 month mark because you own there but you can't use any AKV points to complete the total points needed. You'll have to borrow from your next use year points at GCV.

Y-ASK

So the quick answer is yes you get the 11 month booking at both resorts...

In order to use your 11 month priorty you must be able to book your reservations using only points from that particular resort. We have points at SSR and did an add-on at AKV (150/75 points respectively). If I wanted to book at AKV at the 11 month mark I could only use whatever AKV points are available to us. So if I wanted to maximize our AKV points I could bank 75 into next year then book a reservation in my 2008 UY using 225 AKV points (i.e 75 banked from '07, 75 from '08 and 75 borrowed from '09). If I wanted to travel in our 2007 UY and book at 11 months I would have 150 available (i.e 75 '07 and borrow 75 '08 points). Once the 7 month window opens up you can use any/all of your points at any DVC resort because the priorty period has ended. I hope I've made sense...it took me time to understand the way it works myself.
