TIA!

I just booked a last minute stay and we are headed down in a few days for a split stay at the Dolphin then the Contemporary.

My mom is probably coming with us, but needs clearance from her doctor on Tuesday first.

For the Dolphin stay, it appears that I can't book FP+ with just the room reservation - I need to link actual tickets. But what happens if I buy one for my mother and she has to cancel? Will Disney refund her ticket? The rest of us are going for sure, but I don't want to book fast passes that don't include her.

We switched the Contemporary from a late May stay so the system thinks we will get bands shipped, but it is already too late. So can we not book FP+ for that part of the trip either? :worried:

Have been to Disney many times but I am not up to date on the new FP+.

You need to have tickets linked to hotel reservations in order to use FP+ once you but a ticket Disney does not refund the ticket but as long as it's not used it won't expiry. But if you link it to your mother I believe it has to stay with your mother.

Booking early FP+ may be an issue for you, however SAME DAY FP+ can be done in the park once you have your ticket. They have a few places setup for you. No guarantee as to what is left or the crowds doing the same thing, but it can be done.

You can't book FP+s without tickets linked to your account regardless of where you stay. Tickets are required for FP+ selections.

You do not need MBs for FP+s. You simply need to have tickets linked to your account. With a WDW resort stay you can make FP+ selections up to 60 days in advance while offsite guests can do it 30 days in advance.

You will still get MBs at check in, they will just be gray and will not have any names printed on them. Make sure you make note of which number (on inside of band) is assigned to which person so you don't get them mixed up. You can also use a Sharpie to write names on them if you'd like.

All that said, if you are at least 10 days out you can still customize MBs. They won't ship them to you but you will be able to pick them up at check in.

Hope that helps. Have a great trip!

Thanks everyone! I guess we are out of luck. I guess this is the REAL resason Disney went with this system and it is not for guest enjoyment - it locks you in completely because people HAVE to buy their tickets ahead of time if they want to participate in FP+.

I understand we can make same day FP+, but know we won't have any decent options.

This will be my mom's last Disney trip if she goes. So we either spend $500 on a ticket she might never use in order to book family FP+ or go without FP+.

BTW, we are less than 10 days out, and when I switched dates the site said we had to have them customized by March 21. So while they may intend to ship them 10 days out, they apparently need to be customized 30 days out.

First, you can go ahead and make FP+s for the rest of your party. Then, when you know that your mom can go, you can copy them to her. You will also have plenty of same-day options. DD went over Spring Break and was able to change her FP+s on the same day with no trouble. The only things you may have trouble getting are Toy Story Midway Mania and the parades/fireworks. Other than that you should be okay.

Thanks mousemomx2! I am still a little confused. If we make FP+ for the rest of us, will there be a chance of adding her to our exiting times or will we still have to re-do all of them to go with her on the rides?

I know people have been able to snag FP+ on the go, but it just seems less likely to me now that FP+ has opened up to offsite guests who used to have to wait to do day of reservations.

As long as the ticket hasn't been used, you can reassign it to someone else in your family to use on a future trip.

Like PP have said, there is the option to copy FP+ reservations to your mom once you get there and buy her tickets. But having offsite guests prebooking is pretty new, so there hasn't been much of a pattern yet about what's left the day of.

Yes, you can attempt to copy your FP+s to your mom. At the very least you should make selections for the rest of you now. If you mom goes you can then try to copy them to her. If it is not possible you will be no worse off than if you wait to make same-day FP+ selections for all of you. To copy you simply go into your FP+ menu, choose a date and then choose Copy. Select one of you to copy from and then your mom to copy to. If the times are available they will be copied to your mom's profile. Sometimes they are off a bit (a 2:00-3:00 FP+ becomes a 2:10-3:10 FP+, etc.) but there will still be a window where you can all ride together.

Also, they hold back a certain percentage of FP+s for same-day use so you will be able to get something day-of. But, again, make FP+s for the rest of you now. And as the PP said, you could always buy your mom a ticket now and then reassign it to one of you on a later trip if she doesn't end up going. Unused tickets can be reassigned and do not expire.
