Confused about EMH's

I am a little confused about these "Extra Magic Hours" I have been reading about.

I have experienced "E-Nites" before----where I paid extra dollars for a bracelet that allowed me to spend three or so extra hours in the Magic Kingdom. Do the "Extra Magic Hours" refer to THIS ?

Questions:

Is there a cost involved ?

What actual HOURS are involved ?

Are ALL parks involved ?

Are these SEPARATE from the one-hour "Early Entrance" days at each park ?

Is this a year-round "perk" , or just seasonal ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Unlike the old E-nights which had a fee and limited the number of people, the EMH are free and open to all Disney resort guests, Swan and Dolphin, SOG and Hilton at Downtown Disney. There are both morning (one hour early) and evening (open three hour late) hours. I have read many threads that say that the evening hours are just way too crowded to be enjoyable (unlike the E-nights).

Here's all the details. http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/emhour.htm

Each park has a certain day they are open late and early. You can get the days on the Disney web site of here on this web site. Watch the days if you are making PS around the early days because they can change them at the last minute. We just returned from WDW and they changed a few on us just before we left so the only early one we got to do was MGM. We really like the early morning ones. Last year we did MGM, MK, & Epcot. It worked well for us. We got a lot done before it got overly crowded.

Have a great trip!

We didn't do am EMHs, but if you go into pm EMHs planning to see the smaller stuff, you'll be fine. At MK, the only things with waits in the pm were the three mountains and Peter Pan. Everything else was a walk-on and we just got back a week ago (so that was mid-summer crowds). We also did pm EMHs at Epcot and AK and thought they were great.

I've heard the same things about PM EMHs being really crowded, but I'm wondering about the off-season. We'll be there in early January. Do you all think they will still be crowded enough to avoid? I'd love to ride ToT in the dark, for example, and with the off-season hours that would be hard to do!
