Confused about DVC and DDP?

I posted this on the Dining Plan board, but thought I could also get good information here....

My family and I (there are five of us) are going to be in Disney from October 24th through November 2nd. We'll be staying in a 2 bedroom at Kidani Village. My in-laws are DVC members, and since they are local, and annual passholders, they keep the DVC points for family so everyone can visit often. (I know I'm lucky)

Anyway, they also signed up for the room since they'll be there possibly a night or two instead of driving back to their home. However, they are only eating about 1/2 of the meals with us.

My family (myself, DH, and my three boys) want to use the DDP, but can we do that if my in-laws are not getting any plan? It would be a waste to add them for only 4 or 5 TS meals in 10 days. We are paying for our food, just not the room.

If they do get the dining plan, can we use all the credits they won't, or will they go to waste?

Any help is appreciated.... :worship:

You will be able to use their credits and as long as they are on the reservation as well, they can also use them. So you'll be paying for five adults and two kids for each of the nights of your reservation. Make sure you in-laws add the dining plan to the reservation at least 48 hours before you arrive. You'll pay when you check in.

Just to clarify...if you buy the plan, everyone on the reservation must purchase the plan. As Deb & Bill said, you can use the credits your in-laws don't use.

Thanks so much for the clarification on all of that. We'll have to think about it.

it could work. if you put the kids in the kid's club one night and ate at a signature dining, that would be 2 TS credits each. Also, since you are there during food and wine, you could use the extra snack credits to try different foods from around the world. You could also get snacks that you can stick in your bag for later.

To use a few more credits while the in-laws are there how about a TS character breakfast in the morning and a TS for the evening?

Claire ;)
