Confused About Dresses at BBB

I'm a newbie (our first trip is this winter!). I FINALLY know what BBB stands for and of course, my daughters would love to get a princess makeover! pixiedust:

I looked over the BBB thread, but still have a question. I saw that the basic makeover is $55. But, how do the costumes work? Do they put on a sample dress in their size for pictures, but then have to take it off when they leave? Can imagine my daughters throwing a tantrum about that. They have a bunch of dresses from Target, but they are NOT in good shape due to daily wear.

Do most parents just buy the dress and let them wear it out? How much do the dresses cost on average, assuming it's in addition to the cost of the makeover?

Thanks!

Uh oh. I think I understand now. The cost including the dress and shoes is $200? Gulp x 2.

We always took one with us and she changed there. The girls have their own dressing area to make them feel more special! My daughter loves it.

Since your trip is in December, wait until Halloween and buy their favorite princess dresses that will be available as costumes. You can find some decent quality princess costumes at JCPenney and they are much less expensive than buying the ones from BBB.

Ah, yes. You are right. If you want the dress, it costs two hundred bucks.

Honestly, a lot of moms do the basic BBB hairdo and bring a dress for their girls to change into. The one thing I can say is that when we did BBB four years ago (paid for by Nana - I wanted no part of it! ;) ), the shoes were pretty hiqh quality. My dd got a pair of Aurora shoes that my girls STILL use today and they've held up really well. (Nice material covered in sequins that are sewn on well). The dress was just so-so. Again, my MOM paid for it, so I let her; however, when my little one is old enough to go, I'm bringing a dress from home for her to wear. ;)
