CONFUSED about Disney Movie Club

I joined Disney Movie Club because there are a lot of movies my children haven't seen that I want them to before we go to Disneyworld in May.

I have to buy 4 more "commitment" titles in the next 2 years.

So when can I buy them? Do only the featured titles count as "commitment" titles and I'll only have the chance to buy one every couple of weeks? I was hoping I could just go ahead and buy my required DVDs. :confused3

Each month you will receive an offer for a featured title, plus usually you will get a special deal on additional movies. They used to send a pretty big packet of info but now they send a smaller notice and you go online to see the details. From what I remember, anything you buy counts towards your commitment. there may be some exceptions, such as really inexpensive videos, but for the most part anything you buy should count.

Just curious, what kind of offer did you get for joining? I think I got something like 6 movies for $1.99 or something like that. That was about 10 years ago.

Just be sure to decline any offers you don't want. If they send them and you don't want them, you return them at your expense. I ended up buying a movie I didn't want rather than pay to return it, and learned a lesson. I am still a member, but rarely buy anything lately.

I just joined, and they give you an option of buying your first commitment movie at half price, 14.95 I think, so that's what I did, and now only have to buy three more. With Thor II and Frozen coming out soon, that won't be a problem! You can buy them as quickly as you like, just have to pay full price for your commitment movies

If the featured movie is one you want, it's usually a great way to get one of those commitment titles out of the way. Sometimes it's actually a pretty decent deal.
Otherwise only full priced titles count towards your commitment. So if they have a 50% off additional titles only the first at full price counts toward commitment.

If you take the unopened movie box to the post office and decline delivery, you don't pay anything to send back a shipment. I have missed a few deadlines and never paid to send any back.

And DMC member here know the price of the Frozen DVD/BluRay combo pack?
I'm just wondering if it is worthwhile to join the movie club since there aren't too many more movies I don't have in my collection. DisneyStore is offering a good price on pre-order for Frozen and I just wanted to see how the movie club compared.

Thanks!

Based on the graphic online I'm pretty sure it's the next featured title. Don't know the price it will be as the featured title. Current preorder price isn't great (25ish plus shipping).

Good to know!

Frozen is not the featured title right now. Currently it's a Jungle Book preorder.

I have found the Disney Movie Club to be an excellent value. You can't always get the absolute best prices there, but if you shop smartly, then you can. I'll explain:

The new releases are almost always cheaper at local retailers or amazon.com. The movie club's regular prices are actually ridiculously high, and you'd be foolish to just order a single movie at regular price (especially since you'd pay shipping fees in addition). A good portion of my movie collection has been purchased outside of the club. However, a featured selection BUNDLE will often come up that is a great deal. Any time you purchase a movie at full price, you'll get further movies at a discount (typically 40-50% off). In addition, you'll get free shipping when it would normally cost about $2.75 per movie.

When you purchase the featured selection or any other movie at regular price, this counts toward your purchase commitment. You have something like 2 or 3 years to reach the requirement.

So, I reached my commitment about 6 months ago but decided to stay in the club. The Jungle Book preorder just came up, and I got:
Jungle book (preorder)
Jungle book 2 (preorder)
Mary Poppins
Winnie the Pooh (original)
Cinderella II/III
Frozen (preorder)

All for $100. These are blu rays. This averages to $16.67 each movie. The same group of movies would cost about $150 on Amazon right now. The more movies you buy in a clump like that, the better you do as any additional movies I had purchased would be $10 - $17 per movie.

The Frozen preorder price is currently $24.95, unless you get it in addition to your featured selection or another full-priced movie.

I don't know if it was a mistake on their part, but I ordered two 3D-Blu Ray combo packs during the buy 1 get one 50% off deal and both of them counted towards my commitment.

Actually if you just write "refused, please return to sender" on the package and put it in your mailbox you don't even need to go to the PO. :) That's how I do it, sometimes I decline a selection but they send it anyway so I just send it back that way. You get full credit for the movie they sent and they give you credit for shipping too.

PP said she thought it was going to be the next selection, not this one. I hope it is, I'd like to get it for my kids. :)

Most likely a mistake but sometimes they will do a promo where all movies you buy count towards your commitment, I've been a DMC member for years now, it's very easy to meet the commitment.

When i've looked at the movie club I haven't seen any 3-d blueray digital copy options available/ Does that come in later after you are in the club? I always get the works when I buy so we can watch it everywhere.
