Hi All!

I am pretty new to the boards, but one thing I keep hearing about is pin codes and discounts. This October will be our 3rd Disney World stay since April 2009. Each time we have booked a trip we have done it through Expedia.com and have stayed at a moderate hotel. How does one get a pin code? Are these only offered if you book through Disney? Thanks for any clarification!

Who Knows What EVIL Lurks In The Heart Of Disney Marketing?!

They keep their methodology secret. But they may have an agreement with travel agencies to not entice clients away.

There's a PIN codes and discounts section of the Resorts board I believe, so that would be the the best place to ask.

Sometimes, just calling up Disney bookings and asking can result in a "pixie dust" PIN code. We have NEVER received a PIN code in the mail, despite having had APs, Disney Visa, DVC members, etc. etc.

But when I needed to book a room for a couple of days at a value for SWW, and they asked if I had any discount codes, I said I didn't, but had an AP, DVC, Visa, etc. so if there are any discounts for anyone I was probably eligible. He looked, and "found" a 40% PIN code on my "account".

When you go to the Disney resort website, and they have the offers advertised on the page, that's a PIN. When you are in the system, i.e., you have booked with them in the past, or just sign up on the disney website to recieve mailings and news, then you will recieve e-mails or actual mail with discounts. My last actual mail from Disney contained a beautiful postcard with the characters from Monsters Inc. on it, [what some people have dubbed the "monster code or PIN"]. That came in April, for the Fall season discounts.
I often get e-mails with offers for room discounts or free dining. The last one I got was this fall, advertising the room discounts and free dining for the fall and winter. But these are available on the Disney website. If you call to reserve a room, make sure you ask the CM if there are any discounts for that time of year when you will be travelling. They WILL NOT automatically give you the discount, but they will not keep it from you if you ask. Very tricky how it's done.
For instance, if you book for a specific week , but there's a discount if you change your dates a little, they will not tell you! Ask them for the time of year and discounts available.:thumbsup2
