Confused about AAA room only discounts

I just want to check that my understanding is correct:

I can get a room only AAA discount, by calling Disney directly, but not by calling a AAA travel agent.

Is that right?

Is there a rolling release of dates as with Annual Pass discounts, or is it available year round?

I've seen a typical discount is 20%. Hoping for that off a Ft. Wilderness cabin next May/early June.

TIA for clearing this up for me,

You can get a AAA Room-Only reservation by calling Disney directly OR by calling a AAA agent OR by calling a Disney agent such as Dreams Unlimited.

You didn't ask -- But the confusing difference for some people is that you can get a AAA Package ONLY by calling AAA.

The discounts vary with the Resort Category and with the Season -- anywhere from 10% to 20%, with some blackout dates on the big holidays.

Further info:

In general, the discounts run as follows:

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season and Summer Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas) at the Value and Moderate resorts.

Discounts are subject to availability; i.e., AAA-discounted rooms can "sell out" at a resort for your dates.

I would suggest that you check separately with both Disney and AAA. I called Disney a few weeks ago for ressies in November and they told me no AAA rates were available. Then I went though the AAA website and got the AAA rates for the same resorts. The AAA rate ressies have confirmed at the lower rates. I don't know why they are not in sync but I would check with both of them.

I just joined AAA but when I went to their website, I can't see where you get a quote for a vacation. Can someone please point me in the right direction? TIA
