Hi,

So my family and I are booked at the WL for a week in Dec. 2008. I made my reservations through the Disney website. We also booked our park tickets and we are doing the dinning plan. I heard about a AAA rate so I called W-Disney and they said they could not apply it to our reservation. I thought that was wrong, so I called back and they said if I had a room only reservation they could apply the AAA rate. Becuase I have the dinning plan as part of our package, they can not apply the rate. I would NOT be able to add the dinning plan unless I booked through AAA. If I book the whole thing through AAA then I can get the same package - tickets, dinning plan, resort, ME - and the discounted rate.

Does this sound right to all of you? I can't get the AAA rate if I book a package with dinning? If I book a room only and get the AAA rate I can't add the dinning option down the line? I can get all of this if I book through AAA.

Do I understand this correctly or is there another way to get around this?:confused3

Thanks for your help!!!

I had this exact same question a few years ago!!

This is how it works, and it makes no sense:

Call AAA, and you can get a AAA discount room (if available) AND dining plan.

Call Disney, and you can get the AAA discount, but NO dining plan with the AAA discount. Through Disney, you must pay rack rate for rooms to get the dining plan.

Therefore, you must book through AAA to get both the discount room and dining plan.

What you were told is correct. Any travel agency can book you a room at the AAA rates (if one is available)... but the only way to book a package (room and tickets +/- DDP) at the AAA discount is through AAA itself.

There is no way to get around that. AAA travel has an exclusive on AAA packages.

Through Disney, you must pay rack rate for rooms to get the dining plan.

Not quite true. You can sometimes book through WDW using a public code (if one is available) and receive a discount off of packages that include dining. You do not necessarily pay 'rack rate' when a discount code has been offered by Disney. :thumbsup2

What you may be thinking of is that you can not recieve both the 'free dining' offer, and also use a room discount, at the same time. That is becuase you can not stack multiple offers/codes--you can only use one at a time.

Thanks! I'm going to try to call AAA tomorrow. They were closed already on Sat. and the local agencies were not open today - Sun. Not sure if they will be open for Columbus Day, but I'll give it a try. I think if I can get a good rate on a courtyard view, I could convince my husband to keep that and not try for a woodsview. Although if I could get a good price on a woodsview - well, it's that much more I will have to spend in the parks! ;) Decissions, decissions ... :thumbsup2
