I cannot believe this happened, especially after I was so wired up about my son's shoplifting incident!!! (see another thread for that)
DH, DD and I went to see Narnia for an afternoon matinee. Just as the movie was starting, this family came and sat beside us -- mother, father, & three girls from the ages of around 3 to 10. They were so obnoxious throughout the movie. The little one kept running back and forth between both parents, and would talk the entire time. The mother wouldn't bother to shush her, and would talk back to her. The older girls kept stomping their feet and talking. The mother was the worst! She'd just talk to her whole family, and then at certain scenes in the movie would cry out, laugh loudly, or make loud remarks. The girls kept getting out of their seats and walking in front of us and the littlest one would crawl at our feet. Several times, the little one would grab someone's head in the seats in front of us.
Yes, they were annoying, but we were dealing with it. It was a crowded theater, so we kind of expected that kind of nonsense.
Then, at one point, the little on dropped an entire HUGE bucket of soda on the floor, where it puddled under my feet. I have a coat with faux fur on the sleeve hem and hood, and my coat must have been just low enough, because soda got all over the faux fur. I was fuming!
I leaned over and told DH who, by that point, got fed up and went to complain to an usher. The usher followed DH back to our seats and asked me who spilled and I pointed to the woman and she went off! She started yelling, "give me a break! I have a small child and these things happen. Her coat isn't wet!" I told the usher that it wasn't just that, but that they were out of control, and the woman started saying, "That's not true at all! We've been fine!" The people in front of us all turned around and told the usher that they were out of control as well. Then the usher told her to calm down and told me if anything more happened to please come get him. This woman said more in anger, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head.
Well, after he walked away, the woman got all confrontational with me and started going on and on about, "Give me a break, your coat was on the seat the whole time, you're a liar," and then "small child this" and "small child that."
I just said, "Would you just DROP IT??? We've been putting up with you through the entire movie and now it's time to just STOP!" Well, she shut up and grabbed the little one and left. The rest of the movie (all 10 minutes of it) was quiet and peaceful.
When we were leaving, we saw the usher outside the theater and we stopped and thanked him, and as we were talking to him, the people from in front of us stopped to thank US for complaining and to tell the usher how bad they thought the people were as well. Then the usher took us to the manager, who apologized and gave us free tickets. She said we should have talked to her sooner and she would have thrown them out.
You know, some people are just scary! If my child spilled something on someone's coat, I couldn't be apologetic enough.
And I won't even go into all the little ones in the theater in the first place (some infants too). But at least their parents were trying to shush them.
I feel like a drama magnet today.

I don't know, I was too busy arguing.
