OH MY GOD!! Pixie dust won't work? This is much worse than I thought.
Nope doesn't work..even if you put it in your nose.

Just because we haven't seen people on ventilators yet here, we may. I posted a link to that article, because someone here wanted to know my reasoning for saying that some of the Mexico victims were on ventilators. And while there may have been some cases in Mexico that ended up on ventilators, the fact remains that we have not seen that in the USA. Something is different between what is going on in Mexico, as opposed to the rest of the world.
It could be that their lungs have been compromised by the air pollution in Mexico City (something they would never know, and appear "healthy"), or there could be so many other factors involved. I really don't see the need to scare people in the USA with things that haven't occurred here.
Certainly knowledge is power, but I really think we should stick to the facts and information provided by the CDC and the WHO, which is to take precautions, but don't panic or be alarmed. We will see deaths from this flu, as with any flu, but we shouldn't lose our heads over it.
It doesn't affect me either way if you don't think this is a big deal and wish to remain in the dark. There are many who want to know the facts..I'm a big girl, I don't scare easily. What person here is losing their head? I haven't heard anyone say that they were going to seal themselves in a bubble..couple of people mentioned that they may postpone trips. That is their perogative.
Apparently, according to some, knowledge is a bad thing. It just floors me.![]()
Knowledge is not a bad thing, but that knowledge has to be put into perspective. I love knowledge and I don't feel that I'm in the dark on any of this. I understand what each WHO level means, and I know more about this strain of flu than I probably know about the regular strains.
All I was saying was that yes there were Mexicans placed on ventilators, but until that starts happening in the USA, I don't think we can say because "A" happened there, "A" WILL happen here.
Eh, I tend to avoid Fox news. Talk about sensationalism..Shepard Smith on Foxnews just said based on the issues in Washington DC right now he wondered if this swine flu stuff might be a bit of a deflection or "something to talk about." I would hope that isn't the case but who knows.

I just found this article - it was posted yesterday and says that they have not confirmed this case to be the swine flu yet... don't know if any thing has changed since. Either way - this makes me nervous.... We leave for Disney in 10 days, and I don't want anything to screw up my trip!~ I'll walk around the MK in a hazmat suit if I have too!
But I think the real key here is to wash your hands often and carry around a bottle of hand sanitizer with you and sanitize your hands often - like after each ride!
Stay healthy!![]()
I agree..but I never said that it would. The main point is that this flu has the POTENTIAL to cause severe respiratory illness. So if someone is prone to these problems, maybe they could take extra precautions. That's it..I fail to understand how the media reporting fact, (ie some patients were on ventilators) is sensationalizing.Knowledge is not a bad thing, but that knowledge has to be put into perspective. That is unfortunate..we have some like that around here. There is one station that I'll watch, because they are very objective about the news. The other 2..one step up from tabloid. I get most of my news from the newspaper and certain websites, so I may have missed some of the more "Geraldo Rivera" style reports..You've never seen my local anchors.
They may be reporting facts, but, as my mother always said, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it." They won't just say people on ventilators, they will spin it in the most horrifying, "it will be on your doorstep tomorrow," kind of way.
