I’ve seen posts here and other sites about shower only rooms (not ada compliant roll in showers) AND box fans. My ta is telling me neither of those are things Disney offers. She said she will request the roll in shower and if by chance a guest leaves a box fan she will request one. She used disneyparksmompanel as a reference. I know from firsthand experience that is NOT a reliable source. Does Disney offer shower only rooms and/or box fans? If so, how do i go about discussing this with the ta without coming across rudely?

Do you need a roll-in shower? That is a separate booking category.

Several different room types may have walk-in shower stalls, as opposed to a tub/shower combo. At the recently renovated POP and AS it is hit or miss which you will get because it is not a bookable category. But you can certainly request a “walk-in” shower. Other resorts may be a given based on room type — I’m sure others can post more about those.

I can’t speak to the availability of box fans.

Enjoy your vacation!

Our last 2 visits we requested a box fan from the following resorts and received one, YMMV though depending on how many others requested one prior to your arrival: Poly, BC, BVC, and CS. We just call housekeeping when we arrive.

What resort are you staying at? Yacht Club definitely has shower only, not handicap accessible rooms since the last renovation. I don’t know how many they have, or if other resorts have added them when they have updated. If you search on the Y & B thread, you will probably find pictures. And you will have to request a shower only, can’t reserve in advance.

Edit: I found a picture of the shower from a recent YC stay.

Wow, what TA doesn't know that Disney has shower only rooms.
Wow, just wow.
I hope you never use that TA again.

My sister had a shower only room at CSR while my room had the shower/tub combo.

I have to say it--I wouldn't be using that travel agent ever again. They seem to lack basic knowledge, and the fact that they are looking to the Mom's Panel for info? Oh boy.
Right!?!?!?! I know all TAs are not created equal but NO TA should be employed that is this bad. OP, I'd even go so far as to report her to her agency. She needs training. Or a career change.

I know CC has them, YC has them and GDT has them. Maybe others but I know those for certain.

MTE. Drop that TA like a hot potato!

I've gotten box fans at several resorts too, as well as walk-in showers. So yeah, as others have said, that TA is VERY wrong.

We are staying at Pop. I was pretty sure about the shower thing based on a thread here on disboards. I didn’t think they were roll in/ada only. I knew that it would be a request that is not guaranteed, i just wanted her to note it on the reservation. I also read about box fans here.

I have never used a ta before this trip. She’s very nice. And she’s offered lots of suggestions i would not have thought of. But it’s unlikely that I’ll ever use one again.

I didn't know you could request box fans! Has anyone had any luck getting one at the YC?

Ugh. I hope she doesn’t make the request for a roll in shower. Check out the resort specific threads & search for some pictures. You can show her those & make her request “shower only”. NOT a roll in, handicapped accessible shower. Or just post on the Pop thread & ask if anyone has pictures of the stand up shower there. Good luck!

I don't know if they're request-able. My parents were assigned one once, and went to the front desk to ask for a tub room. At that time, the front desk had no idea which rooms were shower only, and which had tub with shower.

Every trip we have requested a box fan and have received one for years. We have stayed at Grand/Contemporary/Poly/Yacht/Boardwalk/Animal Kingdom and Wilderness. We note it ahead of time and as soon as we check in.

I'm not sure what other suggestions she has offered, but with the lack of knowledge on room configuration I would be concerned her other suggestions may be just as innacurate.

Disney planning is a specialized niche. It really is quite different from other vacation planning with rules, loopholes, and systems that are unique to Disney.

If you’re going to Disney, you want a TA who is a Disney expert, not a more general TA who dabbles in Disney.
