If you like to eat at buffets 75% of the time..... lets says lunch/dinner.... is the DDP a good value for an adult?

It depends. Not all the buffets are the same price, usually breakfast being the cheapest, lunch is more, and dinner is the most expensive -- and the prices also vary from restaurant to restaurant. So you have to look at the buffets you would like to go to, and figure in the cost of the meal, tax and tip. Buffets are considered TS, so if you go to buffets for 75% of your meals, you won't have enough TS credits to cover that and will end up paying OOP for several of your meals. If you never eat at CS, those credits will go unused and they are not refundable. If you go to one TS meal every day, and use one CS credit every day, it's usually a good deal. Sounds like there are a lot of great CS options, particularly in Epcot.

We usually spend at least $40 per person OOP each day at DL (we like a TS meal each day) and the plan is very convenient, so we bought the DDP for our first trip to WDW this May. I'm interested to see how it works for us.

Dinner buffets at Boma, Holywood and Vine, and Crystal Palace are 25.99, 24.99, and 27.99, respectively. This does not include tax and tip. If you eat at a counter service meal for your other meal that day, you will easily spend $10 to $15 on entree, drink, and dessert. Add to that a $2 or $3 snack and you have more than gotten your money's worth.

I was also worried about this, and because I'm on a very strict diet I feel more comfortable at a buffet than at other TS restaurants. I felt like we wouldn't be getting enough value for our money invested in the DDP, but that's simply not the case.

I'm still wavering on the ddp, but it's not a question of value as much as a question of not wanting to spend that much TIME eating!

So with tax and tip - both covered by the DDP - those buffets are $32.36, $31.12, and $34.86, respectively (I think - I just did it more or less in my head).

The way I think of it is like this, The DDP cost is 38.99. Any dinner that will total $25 before tax and tip is a good use of your credit (roughly becomes $31 with tax and tip) add a $4.snack and your at $35, now toss in CS at $10-$12 and you have still exceded the amount you paid ($45-$47).
While the buffets are certainly not your "wow I got $100 worth of food for 1 TS credit" scenarios they are still a good use of the plan and you will at least break even with a TS Buffet lunch or dinner at most venues.

Sorry to barge in but I didn't want to start a seperate thread Is there a listing of all the restaurants you can use with your dining plan points? I'm sure I saw one but I can't find it now and the search feature seems pretty wonky. Specifically I'm interested in Downtown Disney. It never occurred to me you could use the points there til someone mentioned Wolfgang Pucks... where else downtown can you eat on points?

About the milk...some people have reported they could, others said they couldn't. Might depend on the store where you are buying it? I haven't looked through every single one of those snacks listed, so it might be in there...

The easiest way for us to justify it is we are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 5 and 7 when we go next)... When we went last fall, we found that at most of the dinner buffets and then at LTT (not a buffet) our meal including gratuity came out to approx. $110.... that's more than the $100 total we pay per day for the dining plan... PLUS we still get a CS meal and snack too

About the milk...some people have reported they could, others said they couldn't.

And I just reported experiencing BOTH being able to and NOT being able to, at the same shop!

We were able to get milk at BWV using SC. The CM at the gneral store said that almost everything under $4 is a snack but it cannot be something that has to be cooked. I had no idea they even took DDP there until a few days before we left.
