Confirming: Skipper Canteen

I'm just looking for confirmation that the "secret menu" cheese bread is always available. I have a picky vegetarian kiddo who will eat that but I don't want to show up to an unpleasant surprise.

It was in May and the server actually offered it without us asking or bringing it up.

Keep in mind that the menu can change at any time though. Just because someone confirms an item is available today doesn’t mean it will be available tomorrow. I always make sure there are three items on a menu I will be okay with, so I have backup choices if my favorite is no longer available.

Every time I've been, the server gives it as a special. I'm pretty confident they always have it.

Anyone wanna clue me in on this cheese bread? We have a Skipper reservation in September before MNSSHP and I've never been!

Great advice, unfortunately we are often lucky if there's one thing so sometimes we have to just take our chances. Her horizons have expanded a bit since last year, and her anxiety over judged for ordering a random smattering of things (for instance last year at one restaurant she got a side of fries and a kids' fruit cup and was so stressed out about ordering) has decreased so we're able to expand a bit this year! Skipper Canteen was a no-go until I saw the bread option! Otherwise it was going to have to be the Plaza...

That "secret" cheese bread has been available for years. I doubt it's going anywhere :) . They might change the accompanying sauce, I guess. But I think the cheese bread is here to stay.

Gotta say though that I must be the only person on the planet that isn't all that crazy about it. It tastes fine and I love the sauce, but the texture of the bread itself is off putting for me.

It's basically the same cheese bread they offer at the Brazilian booth during Food and Wine, but this version comes with a poblano cream cheese and chimichurri sauce. Here is a review from DFB from back in 2019:

WHAT. How have I not seen this?

Pretty much available all the time now.... heard they bring it up depending on the server if not just ask !!!

We eat at Skipper's at least once or twice a year. Most servers we've had offer the cheese bread as they are taking our drink order. It's part of the greeting process at this point :goodvibes . It's why I chuckle whenever I see some vlogger going on and on about how they are cluing us in on this top secret menu item.

We got it in July. We forgot it is a big serving and ordered two and it was a lot. 1 would have been enough lol but we really enjoy the sauces.

We ate at Skipper Canteen yesterday and the "secret" cheese bread was offered to us. We've had it before and happily ordered it, it's amazing!

You aren't the only one. My DH doesn't like it due to the texture either.

Thanks all! Changed our reservation from the Plaza (which is fine but I'm not super crazy about) to try Skipper Canteen!
