Confirmed - Ticket Price Increases

Disney had record Occupancy Rates last year, so they have nothing to lose by increasing prices either at hotels or the Parks until there is some drop-off in guests that start to negatively impact profits.

But understand, with increased prices, fewer guests do not necessarily lead to lower profits.....

And then the Hub is completed......Disney Springs is fully opened.....AvatarLand & River Light show bring new people to AKingdom....

More people.....increasing profits.

Florida annual pass holders probably spend way less per visit than other guests. So if you can eliminate or limit them, while filling the parks with guests spending more money, your bottom line improves tremendously. That is until the economy turns again. Then the overseas guest slow down tremendously. You are left to count on those loyal guests that are within a cars drive to your park to keep it going strong in the lean years. Except, you have burned all your good will by not valuing these guests, not investing in the parks, and now they have found other ways to spend their small dollars.

The counter argument to this is that the parks are nowhere near full...so why limit anyone by driving prices up that in the end yeild little in the way of revenue?

The problem with Florida residents is that they go during the "best times" for day trips... Which means weekends, holidays and festivals. Some don't because they detest the crowds (I'm with them)...but still. EPCOT on Fridays and Saturdays in October are nasty uncomfortable now.

The real value in the whole picture prospect of keeping annual passholders end Florida passholders preferred and happy is that they are the backstop on a recession/ decline... They are he ones that get them through the winter and hold the line.
But the greedy basturds running the books "forget" conveniently in the good times...as if its never gonna happen again... But Always does on a consistent 7 year arc.

A child born in 2012 now costs $872.48 a year to get into the land of "wishes and magic"

Same as a WWII veteran

If they go to blizzard... That's a premium annual

Thanks for the response - made a lot of sense and gave me good chuckle.
DVC AP rates went up the same. It is almost as if disney said hey let's raise the rates on the people that come the most the most!!

Wouldn't mind the increase if it was inline with all the other tickets and disney parks offered the same or more for the money. With all the closures and construction going on I think it is a little out is line to raise FL and DVC 9%.

Ticket prices at WDW would not be a big deal to me if they had a grand plan in place to fix EPCOT and DHS. I know it all cannot be done at once, but ticket prices to those parks should not be increasing when the value for those parks is clearly not the same as is once was and in my opinion is currently declining. At least with MK they can point to the Fantasy Land expansion and over at AK they can point to Avatar and the other various things even though they are still over a year away. They could go a long way in fixing perception by announcing a Star Wars and/or Pixar expansion at DHS. I have no ideas for EPCOT, but Future World is in need of some work.

Not "as if"...that's exactly what they are and have been doing.

It was inevitable...but you'll see DVC being wielded as a sword against the memebership more and more now that it's large and the rooms are rarely empty...

Et Tu, Brute?

Especially as they build more "exclusive" units like these poly bungholos that flood the points Into all the "normal" rooms...

Captive audience... So not only do they have an ever decreasing motoviation for incentives towards the types... They're gonna hit them hard where they know they'll still pay:

Food, drinks, and passes

They know they've lost the battle with them at the crap shops...and leave those
