CONFIRMED: DCL no longer going to Matzatlan!!!

I called about my march 6th cruise and was told that they were pulling out of mazatlan for our cruise because of safety reasons so I know at least the first cruises in march will also have two stops in cabo

Oh! I will be soooo excited!!! YAHOO!!!! 2 stops...we might actually get off at all three stops, we def. had ruled out Mazatlan..I do feel for all the good and well-meaning citizens of Mazatlan....hoping this time next year that it settles into more security...I do appreciate Disney making this call...and giving us time to plan....

When I go to look at excursions the days in Cabo are listed as Day 5 and Day 6, Puerto Vallarta is still Day 4.

Hmmmm...that's odd! I think you are on the sailing before mine. We sail on 2/13 and my reservation now reflects the itinerary the rep gave me this afternoon. (see first post)

I'm thrilled. We are on the feb. 20th sailing and it shows us overnight in Cabo. So the day that was Mazatlan is now Cabo. I prefer this so we can be out later or choose from am or pm excursions without the rush back to the ship which made pm excursions not an option. Wonder if this itinerary will stick. Guess I'll have to wait until the official letter comes... Yea!!!

Twice now, I've been on another cruise line that goes to Cabo twice, and we LOVE it.
One day, we'll go to a resort and get treated like royalty, with the choice of staying by the pool and then wandering to the beach and back again, and the second day we take a boat out to snorkel and whale-watch. And there's always time for shopping, at least at the port area (love the indoor flea market!) and on longer stays, we'll go in to town.

Keep in mind that the ship doesn't stay in port overnight. It will sail out and around and come back in the morning.
Lots of people are tempted to get a room and stay the night in Cabo, but if the seas get bad and the ship can't anchor and the tenders don't run, you'd be stuck there.

Hmmm. That is very big news. I am on the March 13 Mexican Riveria and had already reserved an all day private excursion, not through Disney that I was pumped about.

I just went to DCL and it still shows the old stops on the web page, but when I went and tried to book a Matzalan excursion it wouldn't let me.

Hmmm. I bet it will apply to March 13 too. Waiting anxiously for more info!

I'd rather have two PV stops I think but I'm fine with two Cabo stops...or even another sea day.

I was excited about my Matzalan excursion & looking forward to it! :( Safety first though. I understand the decision.

april 3 sailing. itinerary shows as original but no excursions available in mazatlan...

Ugh- count me as one who is really disappointed if this new itinerary holds. Cabo is my least favorite port by far. I would much rather have 2 days in PV, or what about Manzanillo or La Paz instead? I had a great excursion lined up for Mazatlan as well. I haven't booked my PV and Cabo yet- guess I need to hold off just a little longer.

Don't get me wrong, I understand if DCL needs to change a port. I'd just rather not repeat a port, either make a sea day, or give us another port since there are some in the area.

I agree...I'd rather have two days in PV also....but none of the ships do that.

I was just going to say the same thing. It isn't until you actually put in your reservation number that you can see your new itinerary. I pulled up our reservation, went to book excursions and along the right side was our new schedule. Disney later confirmed it. You have to get back on the ship by a certain hour for the tender but I was led to believe that the ship stays in port. hmm.

We had a stop in Ensenada a couple of weeks ago. It was cleaner than I thought it would be, but if you don't want to see the giant Blow Hole (water spouting up through the rocks) then you'd better like to either shop or drink.
I'd take a day at sea, or repeat a port any day, rather than go to one of the really small towns along the coast.

I wonder when we will be able to book excursions for the new Cabo day!

Where do you find the times the ships leave each port?

My 3/27/11 sail hasn't changed. Can some tell me the port times and days schedule? At first Cabo was to be Tuesday and Friday, now I'm hearing Thursday and Friday? Are we going to overnight in Cabo?

Yee Haw!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Our March 13 sailing lists Cabo on day 3 and day 6. They eliminated Matzatlan from the March sailings also. That's fine with me. We were not getting off the ship there any way.

I wonder how this is going to effect those of us who have Palo Brunch booked for the Now first Cabo day. I hope they move those booked for that day to the now sea day open between PV and Cabo so that we can book excursions for the first Cabo day.

Disney has probably had to work around other cruiselines in port so that's why we all have different schedules based on how many ships are in port each day because even though we tender in they have to have enough boats available to get all the passengers from the boat to the pier. The Feb. 20 has a simple change, Mazatlan on day 5 is being replaced with Cabo. So it's:

LA
Sea
Sea
PV
Cabo
Cabo
Sea
LA

Hope this helps!

Thats my question - we booked Palo for Jan 25th for my b-day, i wonder if it will be moved, i also wonder how they will do it? my hubby stayed up late one night to be able to reserve it for our special day.. so i hope we can work something out.. bummer..
