Confirmed Boardwalk view?

I've been reading here about people getting their boardwalk view confirmed ahead of time. I made my first reservation at the BWV for Sept. 21 - 27, booking day by day at 7 months out. Last week I called MS to see if my boardwalk view request could be confirmed, and I was told that requests can not be confirmed ahead of check-in, but I would PROBABLY get the view. Is this different from what other people are told?

I have been going to DVC Resorts for about a year or 7 times and we have only gotten our requested view once. That one time took our sales rep to get it done.

There is information posted on the member board that says they will actually book the room according to view at BWV. This just began last week. I'd call back MS and inquire what type of room you've been assigned and ask to be put on the Boardwalk wait list if that's what you want.

Yes, that is different to what other people were told.

We made our reservations at the eleven month window, not day by day and have a confirmed BWV. They were assigned by reservation date - so long as you had the Boardwalk View request down on your reservation.

The other question is what date they picked to put this into effect. Was it immediately or did they start with a spescific day? Anyone know?

I know my reservation is October 11 - 18th and for those dates they have switched over as described above.

Hi

A funny thing happened to me yesterday. We booked a studio for Sept 11-14 at BWV and was told that only preferred water view was available so we took it. I called back to add some PS reservations and double checked the reservation. The res # was different and we were put in a standard view studio. The standard points (not the preferred points) were deducted correctly. I didn't say much because I actually prefer it this way. Wondering if the new policy is mixing things up a little.

May not be a bad idea for those of us with upcoming BWV reservations to double check them.

Here's the policy from the Member Site (no start date is given)

Until now, Preferred View accommodations could be for a view of the garden, the pool, or the BoardWalk. There is now a separate category for the BoardWalk View. Effective immediately, the Preferred View accommodations will be identified by one of the following new categories - Preferred: Garden/Pool View and Preferred: BoardWalk View. Both categories require the same number of Vacation Points for reservation of accommodations. At the time of your booking you will be able to request the BoardWalk View category and will know at that time if this is the room category that you will receive at check-in. If these accommodations are not available, you may request the Garden/Pool View category.

Member Services has already converted some existing reservations to the enhanced room categories, based on requests for the BoardWalk View and the date the reservation was confirmed. An updated confirmation will be sent to Members whose reservations have been confirmed for the Preferred: BoardWalk View category.

Keep in mind that inventory in the Preferred: BoardWalk View category is limited, so please make your vacation plans accordingly.
