We rented points for our upcoming Dec. vacation and have not received a confirmation letter from the owners. Will this letter look like a resort reservation confirmation or will it be different? I have heard it will be on DVC letterhead but again I have heard that it will look more like a "pay stub". Just wondering what to expect.

Before purchasing DVC we rented twice and each time the confirmation looked like a regular confirmation. It did not in any way look like a pay stub. Maybe others have had a different experience, but that's what we experienced.

It is a letter from DVC confirming the reservation, including dates, size of room, and person's name on the reservation and number of guests. We usually get it about 2 to 3 weeks after making a reservation.

It will not look like the confirmation sent out by CRO, but it will not be a "pay stub" either.

It will be an 8 1/2" X 11" letter printed on DVC letterhead. It will outline the reservation #, arrival and departure dates for the stay, the name the reservation is held under (hopefully, the name of the renter), the room type, points used, housekeeping schedule for the stay, requests made and also some directions to the resort. A laundry list of details will be at the bottom (things like requests are not guaranteed, pets are not allowed, annual dues must be paid, DDP must be arranged in advance, DME must be arranged in advance, etc.)

Renting does require trust and honesty from both parties. Which is why reference checks are so important. Unfortunately, a confirmation letter, while initially reassuring, doesn't guaruntee you anything. The owner still has the right to cancel to the reservation prior to check-in and you will have no recourse with Disney.

As long as you've done your research and rented from a verifiable-trustworthy owner, it should be fine. Having said that, it's the risk you take for "a deal" vs. booking via Disney CRO.

Best wishes on your trip. December is a great time to be at WDW.

It will likely depend upon whether the owner sends you a copy of the mailed confrmation, or prints the info off of the member website. The mailed confirmation looks like a regular letter on DVC letterhead.

A website print would look like a screen capture, or if they print just the details, it would have only basic info no names, only reservation number, dates, resort and room type.
