DD14 is being confirmed next Sunday. I have no idea what to get her for a gift. Any ideas? We are taking her out for Brunch to a restaurant overlooking the water.

This may sound obscure and it's probably not do-able now, but my parents got my brothers and I our own Natvity when we were confirmed. The Christmas after our Confirmation, we went out and chose whatever Nativity scene we wanted. Personally, I thought this was a great idea, because our house was never without a Natvity when we were growing up. It's not something you would typically think of, but I've enjoyed setting up the Nativity every year since.

How about jewelry of some type? A gold cross or something?

(I LOVE the Nativity idea. We got ours as an engagement present from my in-laws.)

I was confirmation sponsor for a friend's DD last weekend and this is what they gave her. I thought it was a great idea and I will probably give the same gift to our twins when they get confirmed. DS15 was already confirmed so too late for him.

I gave her a nice pair of earnings that she will be able to wear forever. I wanted to give her something that will last. She got some religious plaques, a crystal cross, a leather bible, a nice bracelet and a necklace--that is all I can remember-oh and some money from Grandparents.

What about for a boy? Any ideas? My son makes his at the end of May. And his birthday is next week so I am gifted out or ideas.

I have a friend's daughter who is being confirmed. I bought her a religious 5x7 picture frame that I had engraved with her full name including her new confirmation name, and the date of the confirmation. Her family is going to get a picture of her with the Bishop to place inside.

:rotfl2: I read that at first as what about a boy? :lmao: I thought you were maybe offering your son!

Thanks for the ideas! I'm liking them! I'm just at such a loss. We don't have any family coming, so what we give her will probably be it

I think a locket would be nice. Perhaps a picture in it of her from her big day. Maybe get it engraved too. Then as the years go by and she has other milestones in her life you can change out the picture.

My sponsor gave me a nice gold chainlink type bracelet. Unfortunately I lost it while horseback riding.:headache:

Our son's Confirmation is today and we got him a new cellphone. I'll check back later to report on other gifts he received. :)

My parents gave me my own camera & I did the same for my DDs.

My DD14 is next Saturday, and she wants a silver cross (already has gold from 1st communion). I'll probably get her matching earrings.

My DS11 has already said he'd like a watch. My DD12 will probably pick the same thing.

I always planned on giving my sons a goldbar as an investment for their confirmations, but the prices kept going up! I have one being confirmed in two weeks and I decided to just give him what I give everyone else. I always give kids a concordance with a small gift card enclosed.

My son will get a concordance with quite a bit of cash. He is going on a service trip to Mexico this summer, so we'll give him spending money for that.

I love the manger scene and jewelry ideas, but I think they'd work best for girls.

My DS will be confirmed May 9. I'll be watching this thread for inspiration! We live in a Muslim country, so finding christian stuff is a bit tricky. I LOVE the idea of a nativity, even for a boy. I have one from Jordan, handmade of olive wood. I would love to get him one, but they aren't available now.

I guess right at the moment I'm leaning toward a camera or cash. He wants to save for a laptop, but not sure I want our confirmation gift to be cash.

We are hosting a brunch at our home following, with 5 other families attending. He will likely get some cash from them.

My daughter got a cross from my parents (they bought both girls crosses in Ireland YEARS ago and saved them for confirmation) so I got her some pearl earrings. I will get some next year when DD#2 is confirmed. I will probably get DS a nice watch but I have 4 years to figure that out.

We are Catholic.

I would like each of my girls to have a crucifix, miraculous medal, rosary, a rosary bracelet, a Family bible, and their own Nativity.

For First Communion we gave them each the crucifix and the rosary and my older DD's Godmother gave her the Family Bible. Her aunt gave her the rosary bracelet.

I will get my younger DD the Family bible either for her Confirmation or her wedding.

I plan on getting them the miraculous medal for their Confirmations.

The Nativity when they each get married.

Just thought I'd share what we've given or will be giving our DDs.

We were all guys and we liked the Nativity idea. I don't know why this wouldn't be gender-neutral. I mean, it's a religious event, so in my eyes, the gift (if not giving cash), should be religious-inspired...

In all honesty, I never expected anything for my Confirmation, so getting anything was just a nice surprise!

My dd will be confirmed next year, at 15. I'm planning on getting her a combination prayer book/hymnal with her name embossed on the front. She has several Bibles now, and my mother gave her a beautiful diamond cross for her 1st Communion. Maybe a special gold charm for her gold charm bracelet also.

When DS19 was confirmed I wanted to do something different - I bought him 1 share of Nike stock at www.oneshare.com. You get the actual certificate which is framed and has a small plaque they will engrave (I put "Congratulations on Your Confimation, the date and "Just Do It"). It hangs above his desk and he LOVES owning a piece of Nike!

They have many stocks available including Disney, Tiffany's, etc. He chose the patron saint of athletes, so I felt it was meaningful (I knew too many religious gifts would just collect dust and cash would be gone in no time). Just an idea.....

I will probably do the same (maybe a different stock) for DS15 in 2 more years. Boys are much harder to buy for IMHO.
