Not by virtue of being made early. Canceled by the system because an onsite stay was not linked to MDX when it ran a sweep of FPs that had been booked based on an onsite stay.

Anyone with valid tickets has an open 30 day booking window and can book FPs without needing a linked onsite stay.

But I believe the question, at least the way I read it, was if you have an on-site reservation but book your FP at less than 30 days, and then cancel the on property stay, will your FP be cancelled because you cancelled a resort stay or remain since you didn’t have an advantage when you booked them? I have often booked a room only at less than 30 days and then made FP. So far I have not had to cancel a reservation, but knowing how buggy Disney’s IT can be, I could picture the system just seeing a reservation cancellation and not doing the math on when the FP were booked. Has anyone had that particular configuration of circumstances who can share their experience?

Disney cancelling the FPs booked by people who used the fact that they had an onsite resort room reservation to get the 60 day FP booking window but subsequently canceled the resort reservation without replacing it with another onsite room reservation.

But it's not harsh...in my opinion. Simply because there were people, not as honest as the OP who were booking those onsite rooms and then cancelling within the 30 days to keep those hard to get FPs. Disney said enough was enough and closed that loophole.

I think that's why @GoingSince1990 added the "fair."

It's harsh when you've made your FP based on a legitimate plan to stay onsite, and you lose them because the make up of your party changes at the last minute. It stings.

Most of us want Disney to be more consistent about applying its own rules, and applaud this change. But I still feel bad for OP.

Agree. Like many things, if nobody had abused it, and only cancelled based upon a change of circumstances (like the OP) Disney would probably not have needed to impose this policy. Just like if people hadn’t abused the GAC there would have been no need to replace it with DAS.

Now that this confirmed FP Cancellation thread has moved on to policies which aren’t discussed on TPAS, closing.
