Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

Well, I still didn't get to the countdown chains. I had a choice with my extra money this week- a new ink cartridge or Father's Day gift for my dad. Pretty easy choice. :lovestruc

Hope,

I hope you don't mind me posting a message here for Karen........

I just read that Karen has said goodbye to her PTR. I'm so sorry to hear that and I still hope you stay around and comment on my PTR every once in a while so I know how you are!!! I'll miss you!!! :cloud9:

Don't worry Ann, I'm still here lurking about, I can't shake my DIS obsession just b/c I'm not going on a trip anytime soon!

Hope & I have movie day today, so we're actually going to see a movie! It's Toy Story 3 in the theaters for us today!!! :cool1:

hey!...*snort*...maybe I'll just take over Hope's PTR. :lmao:

Hey Hope! I am finally getting caught up here on DIS and realized I missed your double digit dance! So here goes:

party: Hooray!! Double Digits!! party:

I hope you are doing well!

Thank you Stephanie! I'm doing great- just don't have much to say. That's what happens when you start obsessively planning almost a year before your trip.

:rotfl: I'll never be planned out- I just transfer my obsessions once in a while. No DIS to plan so now I'm on the flylady site waaay too much. :rolleyes1

All right, I have a new DIS related planning project- beating the heat!! I know lots of you following along are also planning Sept. trips so I'm letting you in on the crazy! :upsidedow

Yesterday was a relatively cool day here and we went to play mini-golf- Kya only lasted 10 holes before she was hot and wanted to go sit in the air conditioning. I know WDW is waaaay more fun than mini-golf but the reason I plan obsessively is because I really, truly want everyone to have as much fun as possible. I know she won't melt and that she's going to have fun but I think she'll have more fun if I plan a bit for it.

So far I've been searching the DIS and have some lists of places that have AC in each park- attractions, rides and CS restaurants. I'm working on tweaking my touring plans a bit so we have plenty of AC breaks to keep us cool.

The attractions/rides list:
AK - Nemo, The Musical, ITTBAB, Conservation Station Lion King

HS - Toy Story Mania, Playhouse Disney, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride, Muppet Vision 3-D Star Wars

EP - The Land Pavillion (Soarin', Living with the Land), The Seas With Nemo, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Journey into Your Imagination, Spaceship Earth, American Adventure, O' Canada, Wonders of China, Impressions de France, Gran Fiesta Tour Test TRack, Mission Space

MK - Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates of the Carribean, It's A Small World, Mickey's Philharmagic, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Monster's Inc Laugh Floor, Stitch's Great Escape, Pooh, Peter Pan, Space Mountain

Obviously not all of these things are on our list but it gives me a place to start. I might also put a few in the plans as maybes in case we are really hot.

CS Restaurants:
MK:
Columbia Harbor House
Pecos Bill
Pinocchio's
Cosmic Ray's
Some indoor seating at Caseys and Main Street Bakery

EPCOT
Future World:
Electric Umbrella
Sunshine Seasons

World Showcase:
Yakitori House
Liberty Inn
Limited seating for Boulangerie Patisserie and inside Rose & Crown pub
La Cava del Tequila (more of a bar serving appetizers and not on the dining plan)

DHS
ABC Commissary
Backlot Express
Toy Story Pizza Planet

Animal Kingdom
Pizzafari
Restaurantosaurus

Downtown Disney
Earl of Sandwich
Wolfgang Puck Cafe (Marketplace location. The West Side one has a small counter but no indoor tables)
FoodQuest (DisneyQuest admission required)

Again, some of these aren't on the list and we won't be eating at all of them but we can also pop in to get some free water and cool off while we wait in line. I also noticed that Flametree BBQ isn't air conditioned but I think Robbie will really like it. I guess we'll see how hot it is that day.

Okay, I'm off to tweak plans- I really needed something to be crazily obsessive about. :rolleyes1

Flametree's seating is all outdoors, I believe. But if you follow the walkway down the hill you'll find seating near the water in pavilions or at least under trees. It's fairly cool there and the food is worth it!

I'm too tired at the moment to comment otherwise. Perhaps my brain will work better tomorrow.

A very good topic since we're going in late August! We will definitely borrow your list!
Is Ellen's Universe of Energy air conditioned?

Good question! I copied and pasted both of these lists after doing a search in the main forum. I would think Ellen would be air conditioned as well as Tomorrowland Transit Authority in MK. Does anyone know for sure? Or of anything else these lists have missed? :confused3

Great tip! Thanks! :thumbsup2

TTA is cool because it's shady and it moves (and there may be air blowing I'm not sure) and it's so relaxing to be up above everything with a great view while you relax. The breeze is always good.

The gift shops have the best a/c! There's a surprise, eh? If you walk in to cool off you're in shopping heaven.

You can walk down Main Street inside the shops (many of the shops are connected) and stay cool if you're really hot or want to avoid the crowds on the street/sidewalks.

I think the same thing can be done in parts of HS, too. Just look for shops together along the street. Walk in one and walk out quite a way down the street a bit cooler and more relaxed.

Look for and take advantage of the misting fans and areas. It really does help to cool you down. The immediate cooling effect is great plus as the water evaporates while you walk you keep the cool feeling. If you're too worried about your hair just keep your head away from the mist. :rotfl:
