Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

Hi Hope, not sure if I have commented or not on your PTR, so here goes:
I have a pair of Keens and I LOVE them!! They are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. The pair you ordered—on my wish list!! :)

DISigns—which DISers are you using? Are you creating any yourself? Watch those sales!! You can get great deals on clearance at Target and Old Navy—at least from what I noticed around here in Michigan.

Hey, we share the same thing: ODPD—Obssessive Disney Planning Disorder. :thumbsup2:

Index cards—have your read or are you reading MRYPNPPS latest TR? If not, before she starts her actual TR she does a mini PTR and shows her version of cards you might be thinking about. I think I am going to adapt it to fit my needs. :goodvibes:

I love  all the Disney Movie Days you and Karen have been doing—so cute!! I am hoping to do some fun things with my DD and family before we go down too. :goodvibes:

DHS: I think is the hardest park to plan as to me it is not the easiest LO. From what I gathered, Muppets would be the one I would drop off unless you are huge Muppet fans. It is suppose to be getting an overhaul soon as it is dated.

TRex: Can you plan to do it the night you are at DTD or is that going to be too much? Do you like the Mara menu—you could just go to pick up the Zebra Domes for a snack credit if that is the main reason for choosing it?

JTA: Did you read about the new selection process? Waiting in line (kids have to be there) and answering the questions? They also have an age range now that you have to fall into.—since read that you do not about this. :goodvibes:

Yay for tax money!!! :yay: :yay: I have read lots of people are getting back more than they expected!

:woohoo: for MNSSHP!!!! How exciting!!!! You could make Jace a shirt—there is a cute Mickey as a Jedi that would make a cute one for MNSSHP.

Great job working the fuzzy Disney math to make it work for you!! :teacher:

I am glad that you were able to work things to make them fit within your comfort range.

I am sorry your parents might be able to swing it!!:( I hope it works out.
Your plans look great!!!! I think it is comforting to know I am surrounded by others who share the ODPD! We are in good company. :rotfl2:

Yep, these shoes are AWESOME- the best Disney money I've spent so far!

I'm really hoping to get some good deals as the summer stuff goes on clearance- we're going at the perfect time of year to snatch some things up super cheap! I'll still be making some of my own though to be more special and so we have some matching things. :goodvibes Natalie (donatalie), Kelly (kellybell), and Milliepie have some great DISigns that we'll probably use. Amy M_I_C_K_E_Y) has a super cute Lego star wars and Tebi73 did a few name fills for me. Marion (RustManFan) also did a really cute friendship shirt for Kya and Savannah to wear together.

Thanks for the tip- I'll have to check that out! :thumbsup2

These are so much fun to plan and do- brings a little Disney magic to the very gray winter we're having.

DHS: I think is the hardest park to plan as to me it is not the easiest LO. From what I gathered, Muppets would be the one I would drop off unless you are huge Muppet fans. It is suppose to be getting an overhaul soon as it is dated.

With our newest plans I managed to fit it all in! :goodvibes

TRex: Can you plan to do it the night you are at DTD or is that going to be too much? Do you like the Mara menu—you could just go to pick up the Zebra Domes for a snack credit if that is the main reason for choosing it?

The main reason I chose Mara is that it gives us the opportunity to visit AKL and its on the QS dining plan. I've pretty much decided we won't be doing T-Rex. Jace didn't seem all that excited about it so it was easy to drop. He wants lots of time at the Lego store in DTD so he'll already be having lots of fun. A few years ago dinosaurs would have been more important but he's growing up. *sigh* :sad1:

JTA: Did you read about the new selection process? Waiting in line (kids have to be there) and answering the questions? They also have an age range now that you have to fall into.—since read that you do not about this. :goodvibes:

Yep, we know all about the new selection process. Jace is so looking forward to this so we will be in line plenty early! He'll only be 11 when we're there so he's still young enough to participate. :thumbsup2

Jace has decided he wants to be a pirate- he thought this wasn't too babyish and still seemed Disney. This should be pretty simple too- he has lots of satiny swishy athletic pants and we'll just jagged cut the bottoms of a pair that have gotten too short, pair it with a white t-shirt and black vest, bandanna, eye patch, and clip on earring and voila' pixiedust: Instant pirate! Of course we've just started reading Tom Sawyer so he may change his mind and that will be a super easy costume as well. :goodvibes

He already has that Jedi Mickey shirt picked out to wear when he does Jedi Training. :thumbsup2

thanks so much for reading all of my craziness and for your feedback- it's so nice to know people are following along! :lovestruc

My 6 year old is dying to do the JTA, too. He's a bit shy and I'm worried that he's going to chicken out at the last minute....
I'm so impressed with your ability to go with the flow and rearrange things to meet your budget!!!

I'm actually pretty laid back about things despite all my obsessive planning. I enjoy the puzzle and making it all work so changing things up just gives me a new challenge to tackle. :thumbsup2

I think the JTA will be fun to watch even if he decides not to participate so I'd just try and see how he feels when he gets there. Kya has absolutely no interest in participating but still wants to see the show. :)

Well, I might just be a little crazy folks. I am terrified of heights- I literally get butterflies in my stomach when I'm walking down steep steps and I can't stand next to the edge of anything, even if it has a railing. I have always pushed myself through this fear when it comes to doing things I really want to do. I climbed out on a castle tower that was on top of a mountain once but I kept myself GLUED to the tower wall. This is a real fear of mine and yet...

Jace wants to do Characters in Flight. :scared1: Now, I could let him do it with Robbie and not worry about facing my fears but I think I'd regret it. I want those pics from way up high! I hadn't really given it much thought until we saw the planning dvd- Jace thought it was nutty at first but then he saw that there's a net and he started to get into the idea. I think the net will help me too, the good thing about irrational fears is that irrational things can make you feel better.

We have DTD on our agenda for our arrival and departure days. I think on our last day IF we have any spending money left (it'll be about $80 for all four of us) we'll check to see if its running. According to reports here on the DIS it can be iffy because weather and wind conditions have to be just right (which also makes me feel better- they take safety seriously!) or they shut the ride down, even if people are waiting. So, its not a definate plan but definately something we're going to try to make work. I better get some AMAZING pictures!

Have any of you done CiF? If so tell me about it- and share pics if you have them!

Hey, you can get amazing HIGH pictures on Expedition Everest as well, for free!

Characters in Flight: I have looked at that too. I have always wanted to do a hot air balloon ride. We will see but I don't think it will happen this go around for us.

Karen: no thanks!! ;)

What's characters in flight? Why don't I know about this???
My DH is afraid of heights, too.

Character's in Flight is a tethered hot air balloon at DTD. The planning dvd talks about it under 'recent additions' so I guess its only been there for a couple of years (the dvd seems like it might be a year or two old) so maybe that's why you've never heard about it.

We watched the dvd again yesterday (I know, I know, obsess much) :rotfl: and both of the kids want to do it so if its up and running on our last day we will. It's $16 each- I was rounding up to 20 when I estimated 80 because I'm not sure if that includes tax. My kids aren't big on thrill rides and refuse to do any roller coasters so this would be a really exciting addition to our trip. I think it will be worth it to push through my fear. :goodvibes

Along that same line of thought- when we watched the dvd we talked about the fact that Splash isn't really a coaster. It's a slow ride with fun theming and a big drop at the end. Since the speed and twists, not the drops are what they don't like about coasters they both think they want to do Splash now! :woohoo:

Thanks for that link! It answered my question- tax IS included so $64.

Oh! I know Characters in Flight. I just didn't know that's what it's called. We've never done it but it was brand-new when we stayed at SSR last May. We could see it from the hotel. It looks cool but I seriously doubt my DH would do it!

My kids LOVE Splash Mountain. They were terrified of Thunder Mountain but thought Splash was awesome. My 4 year old was a bit afraid of Soarin' but my 6 year old LOVED it!

Better late than never right... :rolleyes1

This week has been pretty busy and stuff kept cropping up so I didn't have a chance to post about our Fox and the Hound movie day! I'm sure most of you have already read all about it on Karen's PTR but here goes anyway. :thumbsup2

We decided that since Fox and the Hound is really all about freindship that this should be the theme of our day. :lovestruc

I found a recipe online for Friendship Bread that didn't require messing with that starter (if you've never done the starter rest assured- it's a pain in the neck!) so Kya and I made these at home. I happened to have three small loaf pans so I made the kids their own individual loaves. We also gathered materials t make friendship collages; colored paper, scissors, glue, magazines, and some pics of the girls together. :goodvibes

You can see from the look on Kya's face how happy she is to be having her picture taken. :lmao: With a little coaxing though both of the girls started to have fun posing for us. (Jace was here too but didn't want to be in the pic  )

_MG_9791.jpg

After posing for a few pics they got to work on their collages. They turned out so cute!

Kya's...

and Savannah's
_MG_9813.jpg

Jace started on a collage but lost interest before he finished. In fact he spent most of the time wining about being tired- I was ready to wring his neck because he kept interrupting while Karen and I were talking about Disney! :rotfl:

After they made their collages they headed into Savannah's room to watch the movie on our old tv/vcr combo. It was a HUGE hit for them to watch this way! They loved being separate from us where they could play and watch and Karen and I loved the opportunity to talk about trip planning. :cloud9:

Another great movie day!

he kept interrupting while Karen and I were talking about Disney!

That's a major offense in our world! :lmao: Poor guy, he's never going to want to come to my house b/c that's all he hears about is our trip planning!

Well, I'm sure you've all been waiting with baited breath to see my latest itinerary. After talking to Karen Monday and then finally getting to see the hours I have been in a rearranging frenzy- and LOVED it! :goodvibes

I have managed to fit in all of my 'musts' and most of my 'really really want tos'. :thumbsup2

I'm not quite ready to call this my final plan because I'm still waiting for Disney to release free dining but this is pretty dang close to final! :woohoo:
