Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

It's a wet, gray, dreary first day of spring. Thankfully the last couple of days were beautiful and I got to spend some time outside so it's not so bad having a lazy afternoon today. I finally found myself drawn back into the DISign boards and I've reworked our t-shirt plans. :goodvibes

Those of you who've been following along may remember that I intially got a teeny tiny bit carried away when I found the DISign boards. :rolleyes1 Since then I've had time to rethink a few things. First of all since my parents probably won't be coming with us I eliminated their shirts and had to choose a different family DISign for just the four of us. I also decided that I didn't want to spend the time and money on shirts we'd never wear again so a few things had to go.

I'm making 9 shirts for both kids, 5 for Robbie and 6 for me. Wait- I thought I'd tamed this- that's still 29 shirts! :scared1: Oh well, at least I figured out that I'll be able to put two disigns on each piece of transfer paper so I'll still only need to buy one pack. That's progress, right?? In my defense I knew we'd want fresh shirts after our afternoon breaks. Who wants to get out of the pool feeling refreshed just to put a smelly, sweaty shirt back on? :confused3

I'm sure your all just waiting with baited breath to know what shirts I'm going to make (well, at least what I plan this week :lmao: ) so, without further ado:

On Saturday, our travel and DTD day we'll just wear something comfortable. I had originally thought about making shirts for the plane but when that total started rising these got cut- we aren't going to be posing for family keepsake pics in the airport terminal. Well, probably not the ones I'll frame anyway.

Sunday, as some of you may recall, is our Animal Kingdom day. RustManFan (all of the fab disigns I'm mentioning can be found on the DISign boards!) has a really cool AK shirt that has animal print Mickey heads in a circle and we'll all be wearing those for our first day. I can already just picture us in front of the Tree of Life in our shirts! :goodvibes

That evening we'll be going to Park Fare for dinner. Kya will have a shirt by donatalie with Cinderella and a glass slipper that reads 'The right shoe can change your life.' I'm going to look for a cute skirt to go with it. Jace really wanted an Aaron Stone shirt and since the name fill design that tebi73 came up with will look great on sky blue and so will Kya's shirt that's what he's wearing. I looked for something a little more 'Park Fare' for him but didn't find anything he'll actually wear again. They'll be wearing the same color at least- and I have another trick up my sleeve to make Park Fare special for Jace so he'll be fine in his Aaron Stone shirt. ;) No cute matching shirts for Robbie and I on this night- we'll just have to make due. Again, I'm not expecting a family photo out of this so as long as the kids look good for their pictures that's what's important on this night. :thumbsup2

Monday we'll be at Epcot. This is the day we'll meet up with Karen and MA so the girls will wear their matching shirt that RustManFan designed. They have Tink and Silvermist and read "Friends make life magical". :lovestruc Jace is going to wear his surfing Phinneas and Ferb (for which I forgot to write down the disigner!! ). Again their shirts don't really match but both will look good on a green shirt so it'll be cute. Nothing planned for the evening- just a regular shirt from home.

Tuesday is DHS day so Jace has a Lego Star Wars shirt by Amy (M_I_C_K_E_Y) and Kya has a Wizards of Waverly Place shirt by tebi73. Both on yellow. I'm getting in on the fun on this day with a Mickey head made from three camera lenses by milliepie. Karen found the same disign and since we won't be at the same park on this day it seemed like a safe bet that we wouldn't run into each other in our matching shirt. :rotfl: All three of us will have yellow- Robbie is opting out of the shirts in the morning but when we go back in the evening he's going to put on his white 4 parks one world shirt Kellybell is doing for all four of us. Yep, gotta get that pic in front of Mickey's sorcerer's hat with us in our matching shirts. :thumbsup2

Wednesday is Magic Kingdom day!:banana: What else can we do besides our tie dye Mickey heads?? Oh man that pic in front of the castle is going to be amazing!! That evening Robbie and I will probably just wear something we already have but the kids will have some cute Mickey heads on white to wear- Jace's has a Jedi Mickey by milliepie and Kya's is wearing a tiara and an eye patch and reads 'A little bit pirate, a little bit princess'.

Thursday it's back to Epcot and we'll get family pic in front of Spaceship Earth in our matching shirts. Well, sort of matching. I found one with a circle of Mickey heads with various flag prints that reads "I gave a day and got the world" for the kids and I. Robbie didn't do GAD and besides he really likes the circle of MHs with beer label print by donatalie that reads 'Conquering the world, one beer at a time'. We'll all be wearing read and have the circle of MHs so they'll be close enough to matching. No special shirts for that evening since we plan to just hang out at ASMu.

Friday morning we'll head back to AK and the kids will have white shirts with their names in animal print. Jace's will have Safari Donald and Kya's has Safari Daisy. We'll already have our family pic from AK so nothing for me and Robbie. That night we'll head to MNSSHP so the kids will be in costume. Robbie and I are wearing black (yep, but the sun will go down while we're there so I think it'll be okay) shirts for the party. Mine has a purple apple with a bite out of it that reads 'Wicked to the core' and Robbie's has Grumpy standing in front of a MH pumpkin that reads 'I don't do costumes'.

So that's it- a family pic in front of each park icon in matching shirts and lots of other fun stuff for the kids. :goodvibes

OMG, not only do I have the camera lens DISign, I'm also using the "gave a day" Epcot DISign! We'll have to start UNcoordinating outfits soon!

:lmao:

It's when we get home that we'll have real issues- I'll have to email you what I'm wearing to playgroup so we don't show up in the same shirt. :rotfl:

You know you have only yourself to blame though- how do you think I found the disign boards to begin with?? :rotfl2:

Y'all make me feel incompetent! I couldn't make a shirt if my life depended on it. With the exception of tie-dye. I learned how to make good tie-dye shirts during my hippie phase... :hippie:

I love all the shirts, I really was reading through with utmost interest! They sound great, and I like that I'm not the only one who likes to coordinate what my kids are wearing. I've told DH that he should be really glad that DD wasn't a boy or my kids would be wearing the same thing every single day.

I'm very jealous of your 29 shirts. DH doesn't like the idea of transfers, so I don't get any shirts. I mean, I'm sure I could make some for us if I really wanted but DH wouldn't wear any. So, I'm looking forward to seeing yours. Hey, and now that I know what you're wearing every single day AND where you'll be, maybe I'll recognize you in the park! :rotfl:

It's super easy to make a transfer. I've never done it with a DISign but I've made a few in the past. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can, lol.

Of COURSE I have to coordinate what the kids are wearing- My pictures have to look good!

Robbie isn't fully on board with all the shirts but he'll do it for me. He doesn't care about clothes AT ALL so if I hand him a shirt and say 'Wear this today,' he will.

You keep your eye out for me and my shirts and I'll keep my eye out for faceless children.

Okay folks, I have my t-shirts all planned but won't actually start making those until closer to the trip (in case the kids have a growth spurt). Now I'm moving on to autograph books and passports. I'm really torn and could use some advice...

I can get a 4x5 or 5x7 flipbook with 45 pages on Snapfish for 4.99 plus shipping. Shipping on the first book is 1.99, after that 1.49 each. I KNOW it will be much easier to just order the stuff than to make it myself but I'm wondering how cost effective it will be. I don't mind spending a LITTLE more for the sake of convienence but I don't want to break the bank either. So, do you think I can make 2 autograph books and 2 passports- all in FULL color- and have them bound for around $27??

I've also found some autograph books on eBay for $5 but I'm not sure about them because I think the pages are thinner, like regular notebook paper. I've only found one passport on eBay and am not super crazy about it.

So, what do you guys think? Make them myself? Order from Snapfish? Buy on eBay?

I'm wondering the same thing myself. Are the pages glossy on snapfish? I don't know how crazy I am about autograph books on anything but regular old paper (or cardstock, or index cards...). I'll wait patiently to see what you decide. I think DH found some site to print things that had a good discount on your first order... Mimeo.com he said it was. So maybe you want to check that out!

nope, I think this is the best choice (I may do it myself for an autograph book as well, we already have passporters I made last year). It's 3.99 to spiral bind at Staples, so after the ink, paper, and TIME it takes you, I think you'll come out ahead just ordering them!

I made our autograph cards and our holiday passport, but you might want to make sure that snapfish will actually print the disney images--most of them will not because it's a copyright thing, but artscow will print them and you can get the books free(just pay s/h) when you sign up with them--you'll have a bunch of coupon codes for free things...they have no issue with copyright and they are great, you just need to order very SOON to make sure that you have them in time, turnaround can be up to two months since they are in hong kong. But for the epcot passports if you have them printed professionally then you might want to know that the stamp ink usually smears on the page--almost every stamp they put in GC's holiday passport smeared and I'm very picky so I ended up buying her an actual epcot passport that the stamps did not smear in and she had the holiday passport for the holiday storytellers.

I have a couple of photobooks from snapfish and they aren't done with photo paper. It's not regular paper either- kind of similar to magazine paper but thicker.

I'll check out mimeo- thanks! :goodvibes

Wow, 3.99 just to bind!! :scared1: Yeah, definately cheaper AND easier to just order them!

According to several people on the DISign boards snapfish will print them. If I use them I'll do it soon so that if something happens and they change their policy I'll have other options. I looked at artscow another time and I seem to remember that the shipping was CRAZY high. Or did I dream that? :confused3 I don't know, I'll check it out again.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! :goodvibes

Now that I'm considering this, I'm worried...if it's glossy paper, how do the signatures work? Do they smear???? :confused3

Nice shirts--It will be great to see a picture of them once they are done. :goodvibes:

Hmm...I have been thinking a lot about the passport and autograph book for my DD. I am torn because, with the passport, it is a nice one at EP. If I remember correctly, they are about $10. So making one for less than that is the goal.

For autographs: I know I will be making a book for DD. I want to incorporate a space for the signatures and photos with the characters. I want her book to be something that lives up in her room, she can pull off her bookcase and flip through whenever she would like.

With those thoughts in mind, I have two ideas. Idea one is for me to create the signature card larger than I want it to end up as, bind them together with large jump rings, chipboard as the covers to add stability. When I come home, I will cut the three rings holes off and mat them and put them into her autograph book.

The second idea, I have a great wired ring album I picked up at Target a while back in the dollar section. I think I will decorate the cover, make a ribbon band to mark what pages for the characters to sign. The back of the left page will house the picture and the right will be the signature. My issue with this is the durability but I can make page protectors to protect everything afterward.

(I am a huge fan of scrapbooking if that was not obvious :rotfl:)

Looking forward to seeing what you end up deciding to do!! :yay:

Those are great ideas!! I'm still undecided about what I want to do. I looked on the mimeo.com site that lexmas mentioned and with the first order 50% off discount I can get them for about the same price as snapfish but with cardstock. I'm still undecided. That's good though because it gives me something to ponder and plan. :rolleyes1

Those are good ideas!!!!! I may have to steal them.

Ok folks, on one of the Free dining watch threads, someone has posted that they heard free dining would be released this upcoming Sunday!!! Here is the thread:
