Confessions of a Disney Addict who is not in WDW

Okay, I am typing this from a hotel room(in KY) in which I am thoroughly convinced that I am now a full-fledged WDWAddict.

When we checked in last night, I was so excited that we were only two doors from the elevator. Two doors! Then I realized that the whole darn length of the place was about one leg of a Disney hotel hall and it wouldn't matter because we weren't going to be walking around for hours in a themepark.

When we got to the room I was very abruptly disappointed in the furnishings. It wasn't my home---(DVC, not that place I live in between trips to WDW). Though that was also because this place hasn't changed the wallpaper since I stayed here as a high school kid--or anything else for that matter. I don't even think the paint is any newer. Of course, it's probably because high school kids stay here a lot, lol. It is clean, but not the 3 star that Expedia had it listed as. Not like we had any choosing, my dh has a convention in this hotel...but I digress...

My ds and I ventured out to the local zoo today while dh was in meetings. I couldn't help compare things to WDW>and AK. Everthing was nice, but I couldn't help feel a little sorry for the animals. In WDW I never really feel sorryfor them. It seems like the animals there are so well cared for and the surroundings are well maintained. Then as we were walking through the Gorilla Sanctuary my little guy got bit or stung by something. I say bit because it looks like some small creature just took a little chunk out of his skin right under his neck. While he's there screaming and crying I grab the only thing cold I've got-a Sprite bottle-and holdit to his neck. I look around desperately for a worker to look at it--I'm imaginging some funky bug that bit my sweet one is some rare thing that hangs around with gorillas---and it scared me to death--and yes I am very dramatic....but I can't find a worker anywhere. A lady nearby comes over to check on us, she is a nurse and looks at Ben and is worried about an allergic reaction....she has to use her cell phone to call directory assistance to get the zoo number to report that we need someone to come with a first aid kit! I'm thinking, at wDW there are always CM's somewhere near! Anyway, I think he's fine, she told me I should definitely watch him all day because she'd never seen a bee sting like that.

Then to top it all off, while my ds is napping, just now my dh comes in in between meetings and says, what if we take off to WDW for a few days on Christmas break? Are you kidding me? He says, start researching. So Ido, but then he decides it's too expensive. Just like that. How cruel!!!

Anyway, my name is Jennifer and I am a disneyaholic.

Me too! Just be proud. Think of all the addictions in the world-gambling, drinking, drugs, etc. Disney's the GOOD addiction! It's just that it can get costly sometimes.

Hi,

I'm here for you too! I agree that Disney is a good addiction!

My dh says that when we go somewhere other than WDW I act like I'm cheating on my spouse. He kids that Walt will have divorce papers on the bed when I get back to OKW. You guys are right. There truly is no place in the world like Disney.

I, too, am here for you. My DH says "No Disney this New Year's", but he's been wrong before:teeth: ! He tells our kids he is going to file papers against Mickey for Alienation of Affection, and that he is sure the pockets on the red pants are deep...they have to be to hold all the money I've spent there!

Thanks guys!!! I am finally out of that hotel room(just got home) and hopefully won't have to bore you all with my delirious-1970's environment -induced rant on my hotel! I'm really a very shy person--I can't believe I wrote that much!

My dh also said when we got back in July that he did not want to go back for a while. That's what I always say too, then I get back on these boards...

I did get him to say today that we would look into doing the Disney Cruise either next October or December--yay! I can at least start planning!:Pinkbounc

Disynut, I can't be sure, but the bite your son got might have been from a deer fly. They take a chunk of skin (ouch!) Hope he's all better now!

Everyone is right...Of all of the addictions that we could have in life, this is a good one!

My DH of 3 years (11/10/00 wedding on board Grandeur of the Seas in St. Thomas) has caught the bug, BIG TIME!

I spent time in WDW in my previous life but hadn't been back in 10 years. And now have been there twice in 2 years...And he's hooked.

We may be starting later, (we're both 50 this year...AAUUUGHHH!) but we have more fun than my kids ever did! We feel like the older people in the commercial. And we will pass our DVC on to our only other WDW nut, my 27 year old daughter. Since I told her about it, I'm keeping one eye open when I sleep! hahahaha

WDW just makes us happy......Nothing else to explain.

This is fun reading. I don't know who created it, but I enjoy sharing it.

Disneyitis (Dis ney i' tis) n 1. Condition related to the uncontrollable desire to return to the World. Subjects with this condition are known to frequent note files, web pages, and newsgroups. Only known relief is a trip to Walt Disney World. There is no permanent cure....and no cure is being researched as those afflicted don't WANT one! Has also been known to infect Disneylanders. People who suffer from Disneyitis have also been known to spend an unusual amount of time at their local Disney Stores to temporarily relieve some of the symptoms associated with the disease. They will also tape, watch, re-watch, and re-re watch Disney videos, specials, parades, vacation planners, etc. Also will subscribe to Disney Magazine, and will read every brochure on Disney they can get their hands on. They will sport hats, coats, jackets, pants, and carry bags with Disney logos. Can't go more than one full year without going to the world without becoming suicidal, or worse, Homicidal! And no matter how many vacation days they take, they always seem to get ticked off at everything one or even two days before they have to leave the world and go back to the rat race.

I feel your pain!!! I only wish the remedy for our disease was more affordable!!
