Confession time...

Toilet paper. :rotfl:

For the first few years of our marriage, I'd buy the cheap, store brand toilet paper. But then I started to figure - hey, I'm worth it! :lmao: So now we get nice toilet paper.

Don't give me any ideas about throwing out the litter pans! :rotfl: That sounds so much easier than cleaning it!!

I eat fast food way too much. All those little meals sure do add up!

Don't know if this would work, but why not use those large foil disposable pans like you can get for roasting a turkey? I imagine they would be cheaper than a litter box? Not sure if the cats might be scared by the foil?

Not at all. - I've used one of those when we needed to temporarily seperate our two cats, and they were fine with it.

My budget buster is definitely eating out / take-out.

We eat out way too much. That's a huge, yawning chasm in our budget. Our justification right now is that our kitchen is torn apart as we remodel, but we've struggled with it for long before that.

Same issue, same justification here! :rotfl:

The kids are my money suckers. I try to do something with them once a wekk, during the summer... either a movie, or out to eat.... And as you on Facebook know.. my girl's ballet has been my splurge lately. After tickets, costumes, the tights, programs, program ads, pictures, actual lessons, and such I spent about $2k on one season for 2 kids (1 had one dance, 1 had 2) Total stage time under 12 minutes

wait a minute,
I have to stick this McDonalds french fry in my mouth.
We are celebrating the (almost) last day of school.

this is bad because I know it's bad for her health and our budget.

ok,
guilty pleasure spending....

where to begin??

clothes for DD - Love Target
scrapbooking stuff
eating out

and
(this might sound familiar to some)
The Disney Store!!

Books are always good spending!!
Investing in your imagination.
DD has two bookshelves in her room.
Something for the vast collection of plush lovies to do all day.

Mine is for sure my daughter. The child has more clothes than my dh and me put together. But she looks so cute in them! I try to get them at consignment shops and yard sales as well as mega clearance at target and old navy but sometimes I find a full price outfit she HAS to have! :rotfl: I guess at her age (she'll be 2 in August) the clothes are more for me than her but it's a lot of fun.

I spend too much money on ink for my printer - so I can design my own writing stationary with my clip art programs - as well as photos of my family.. I have been pen paling since 1966 and when I write my letters, I want them written on pretty, unique paper.. Actually it's probably cheaper than buying pretty stationary (because then it would all be the same "pattern") - but it's definitely something I could cut out if I wanted to save a little more money..

I "justify" it with all the things I don't do:

Don't go out to eat
Don't buy coffee when I'm out
Don't go to Disney every year
Don't buy new clothes every year
Don't buy anything "new" that I can get used
Don't use CC cards
Don't go overboard for birthdays or Christmas

and on and on.. That's about my only guilty sin..;) Is it a really bad one?

I will not go to a cheapie $15 dollar place to get a haircut. I got a haircut today - $52. It is totally worth it, this girl knows what she is doing!! I only go twice a year so that's not too bad but I know there are definitely cheaper places out there...

Also we go out to eat once a week so we could cut back on that and sometimes I splurge on favorite food items at the grocery store.

I buy books. Lots of books.

I know, I could borrow them from the library - and I do. I go to the library every week and come home with a large bagful of books. But I still buy a lot as well. The truth is you can't get every book at the library (I've had "holds" on some books for over a year!) and there are many I like to read over and over.

Some of this I think is a reaction to my marriage. My ex-husband would NOT allow me to buy books - as he said, I could get them from the library. Once I was divorced, I took great pleasure in being able to buy books. And I still do. I never go anywhere without a book or two (hey, you never know when you'll get stuck in an elevator or in a long line-up somewhere) and I enjoy looking around at my nice, full bookshelves.

Books are my big thing too (other than going out to eat)!

I LOVE shelves upon shelves FULL of books! It makes me feel so accomplished that I can look across my shelves and know that I've read each one of those, most more than once, and I just can't wait to pick certain ones up again and read and read and read...

It does help that DH works at Barnes and Noble and gets a great discount... but even before that, I was an English major in college, and my dorm was FULL of books (not textbooks, just straight literature)... I could buy up a whole store and still not be satisfied.

So for books - I'm with you there, Teresa!! :thumbsup2

------------------

Oh I do that too - but I would never, ever consider "books" to be a waste of money - or a guilty sin.. Books are knowledge - regardless of what type you are reading..:thumbsup2

I'll be first:
every week i spend $4.00 on a new litter pan and i just toss the whole old one in the trash so i dont have to clean it... :rolleyes1 before anyone tells me i know, thats over $200 a year...but its so much easier!!!

And I thought I was the only one that did this! To me it's just worth the little bit of money. I'd love to be able to get the ones that look almost like paper mache, but my big cat (20 pound Maine Coon Cat) would have that in pieces in about twenty minutes!

Fresh flowers! I always have a huge bouquet on my counter- I just love them, I buy them every week at Costco

I wish I could get haircuts twice a year but no, my hair grows way too fast and there's a ton of it. So yes, I go to a place like Supercuts for my haircuts. LOL No more hairstylist for me, I used to have one, I used to get my nails done twice a month and my feet done once a month but I stopped...now I can buy more of those books I mentioned previously. I don't have enough space for my books, I have 3 huge storage boxes in the garage with books in them, I like to read and reread and reread and reread etc etc etc. Oh and shelves?? I have 2 in my dining room (that we use as an office area) the girls each have a wall that is just shelving and the boxes in the garage. lol

Mine is my kids' activities. I will go without just about anything before I would pull my kids out of sports/scouts/clubs. I do try to make them more affordable by buying used uniforms and participating in fundraising, but it still adds up.

We eat out waaaay too much and I like mineral makeup which is pricey compared to the Cover Girl foundation I used to get for darn near free at CVS. It does last a long time, though, and the coverage is amazing.

Dunkin Donuts. I think they put something addictive in their coffee. It doesn't help that they are EVERYWHERE in our area either. I pass 5 of them on my way into work. I have tried the whole make your own and bring it in a travel mug thing... I even got a Keurig machine to make really good coffee. Doesn't work. I try not to add up how much I spend a year on my Great One coffees and Iced coffees (sometimes w/ the turbo shot). It's a lot, I know, and I try to justify it by saying that I work night shift and need me my caffeine. The problem is that the kids now want the coolatas or smoothies and when you get 2 coffees and 2 vanilla coolatas it is downright expensive! It doesn't help that they take debit cards either, because now I don't have to have cash in hand to drive thru.
