I did it *again*! I have been good for so long and last night I strayed. DH and I had dinner at Cracker Barrel in Lansing and I was soooo good (chef salad, diet coke...that's it). Dh was even impressed...no meatloaf and mashed potatos, no corn, no rolls...Terri was being GOOD.

We went to Lowe's and SuperWalmart to get some things for camping and I was *so* excited to check out the LowCarb ice cream they have at SuperWalmart. Ice cream is my BIG weakness and since I haven't had any in so long (and used to have it every single night before bed) I was really excited to see what they had to offer. Well...they had nothing. Not one type of lowcarb ice cream. :( I was so disappointed. I can't really explain it...but that was supposed to be my big treat for doing so well. And when it wasn't there I had melt down.

DH was driving home and we went by an ice cream parlor....I yelled for him to PULL IN THERE!! He asked if I was "sure" I wanted to do this...I was "sure" all right ~ almost knocked over some random child on my way in!

I had a double scoop of chocolate chip in a cone...and it gave me a tummy ache. It tasted good, I won't lie...but in the end I know it wasn't worth it.

OK...I came here to confess and move on. So, you all know I was naughty, now you all know I'm back on track.

Be strong, friends...each day is a new day and a chance to start again! ;)

Terri, every once in a while it is ok to indulge OMHO. To deprive yourself of the things you love is a sure way of giving up. I do not mean have icecream everyday, but maybe use it as an incentive. Say every time you loose 5 pounds you can have a small chocolate dish :)

Do not keep kicking yourself over this. Just start back on your plan again today, and make this the first day again. You will reach your goal, with a positive attitude.

Hey, Terri!

It's ok, you didn't fall off the wagon, you just took a short detour!

Sounds like you had something you needed to get out of your system and that you are right back on plan! Good for you!

If it makes you feel any better I ate a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey last night. As far as I am concerned the past is in the past, ha ha! ;)

Don't worry Terri. Ice cream is my weakness too! I've "survived" on Skinny Cow's the last 6 months, but will occasionally have a small dish (one scoop) if we take the kids out for ice cream. And if there is ice cream in the house, I've had the help of my wife who'll measure out a half cup serving for me (so I avoid that "this looks like a half cup to me" temptation!) on nights I go for the real thing instead of the Skinny Cow. For me, having the freedom to not deprive myself of something I really want to eat has helped me stick with the program.

So, you had a double scoop (it could've been a triple, or a sundae!). Its o.k. and you're back on track. Good for you! (and boosting calories for one day may actually trigger weight loss!!)

TigH, Chunkey Monkey is one of my favorites. I was in college when Ben and Jerry actually made the ice cream themselves in an old gas station, turned plant store, turned ice cream parlor in Burlington, VT. They were diagonally across the street from the Burlington Savings Bank. In the winter B&J would have to reduce the price of their ice cream for every degree below freezing according to the bank's time / temperature sign until they were practically giving ice cream away to anyone hardy enough to brave the cold. Of course I was there! (I had alot of padding!!)

Don't feel bad Poly Pal. If I didn't indulge a little every once in a while I would end up eating an entire carton of ice cream in one sitting. No bowls here, just me a carton and a spoon. So don't beat yourself up about one cone. I hope you enjoyed it. Now get back with the program!!!
