If anyone has stayed at WDW as part of a conference, did you received discounted rates on your room? Was it significantly less expensive?

My sister in law is going in June for a conference. She thinks the hotel is CBR. However there is a chance her daughter who is in the military may be able to join them in which case she would be able to book SOG.

I was curious how much of a discount that she could possibly receive at CBR as part of a conference rate?

Again, with a conference, were you able to purchase discounted park tickets?

We were offered a discount rate on rooms for a conference we attended at CSR last summer, but since we happened to get a "pin code" email discount that was actually a little better (totally unrelated to the conference), we used the pin code instead. I don't remember the exact rates, but I'm thinking the conference discount was about $50 off rack rate, and the pin code discount was about $70 off rack rate. BTW, the conference discount was available for a few days before and after the conference dates.

There were also discounts for tickets in conjunction with the conference. What was interesting was that there were ticket options available to conference attendees that aren't available to the general public, like after 2 p.m. and after 4 p.m. tickets, in addition to more traditional tickets. Whether the conference tickets are a good deal depends on your sister-in-law's plans, I think. I crunched numbers with all kinds of combinations of conference tickets, advance-purchase tickets, and tickets from discount brokers. In the end, we went with 10-day non-expiring tickets through Undercover Tourist because I just wasn't sure how many days we were going to go to the parks; this gave us the flexibility to use the number of days we had time for on that trip and save the rest for another trip. Had we only been going to the parks for a day or two, it might have worked out better to get the conference tickets.

I am actually going to a conference starting this weekend at CR. The rate that we got as part of the conference is the same rate as a rack rate at a Mod. It is actually a really good deal and a chance that I may not get again to stay at a Deluxe! I am super excited about going!

It all depends on the contract that was negotiated. The more rooms contracted, the better the deal. You will probably need to wait to see when it comes time.

I just got a card for a conference as CSR in March...20% off the rack rate for standard view on the week days and a bit over 24% off the weekend rate....can't imagine they'd give a better room than standard. I am trying to figure out if I can go, but I think I will be in trial, RATS!

A friend of mine went for a work conference in June and got to stay at the Poly for $198 per night! I told her that she better invite me along next time!

Our rates for the Contemporary and the Poly are $149/night! I was so happy when I saw that! :cool1:
