Conecting flight, Airtran

I usually take the non-stop flight but Airtran cancled it ...
I could take a flight that has one stop but I have some questions ...

If you pay for luggage do you have to pay per leg or is it just one charge for the entire flight?
If you are able to upgrade using 4 points does that take you all the way through or just the first leg?
If you already paid for your seat assignment on the non-stop does that carry through to the one-stop flight?
I noticed that the flight was cancled tonight for our May trip ... How long before I have to make a choice to accept the flight change and/or make changes free of charge?

I tried to call Airtran but they are very busy with all the "weather" stuff on the east coast.

I don't know about the upgrade, but the luggage fee will cover both legs of the flight. The seat assignment fee will also.

Go ahead and call. They're not actually busy. I've called twice today! Choose option 3, listen to the spiel, and the phone will ring.

They canceled the one nonstop flight from MCO to PWM for our return date. Arg.

I have already paid for seat assignments on the non-stop and if we choose to go with the one stop flight that gets us in about the same time as the origianl flight at least I know that my seats are still assigned for both legs. Our non-stop flight was not cancled but was moved from 7 am to 11:40 am ... Too big of a change for us so we are consitering either moving to the non-stop flight the day before or to the contecting flight that leaves at 6:15 am.

We were planning on upgrading two of us at the gate if possible to avoid the baggage fees as well as get a little more seat space but if it does not happen at least I know I will only be charged one fee for both legs.

You know I remembered, I did call once about paying for an upgrade to business class on a non connecting flight. The upgrades that way were priced by segment. Not sure about points, but on cash they were.
