Just because I'm in a chatty mood. <g>

So, a discussion (long running and new spawned) on the DVC board about the cold pools' temperatures got me thinking!

I cannot swim in 'cold' pools in cold weather. Yep, it's subjective! But, given your actual experiences with Winter and Fall weather swimming (not at pool homes where you control it). What rental places (hotels included) would you give one or two thumbs up to their pool heat? :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

If you're so inclined an indication of where you're from, too; that seems to play a huge part in the subjective nature of it!

The running total!

Jan 2004 [??] Comfort Suites on 192 .............. steam coming off the pool @a.m.
Feb 2004 [TX] La Quinta 192 ...................... comfortable evening swimming
Feb 2005 [??] Regal Palms Resort ................. nice and warm 82 degrees
Winter 2005 -- Celebration World resort .......... nice and toasty

We stayed at Comfort Suites on 192 before we bought our home, in Jan a couple of years ago. We did not swim, but I can say the steam coming off the pool every morning was quite amazing. That would be the pool heat in the pool. So I think thier pool heat would be quite good.

A lot of times private pools will have a pool blanket, in the colder months if you put it on at night / when not in use the pool will stay a lot warmer!

We like ours like hot tub temp...toasty warm!

Have stayed in several places over the years, but last President's Week in Feb. we stayed at Regal Palms Resort. The pool was a nice and warm 82 degrees! Even on the days when the sun wasn't so bright and warm, we were able to swim. Of course it's not such fun getting out!!

I'm going to keep a running total so we can refer to it! :wizard:

last year Celebration world resort was nice and toasty.

but remember the public health department put out that warning - they don't want the pools to be warm in the winter - there is some new bacteria that likes warm.

I know that is why Disney lower their temperatures.

I missed that :( and it's too bad. understandable, but hard to take! There are other factors which make an acceptable (by health) pool seem warmer. Like being indoors! ;) Or even ground cover. A pool that gets lots of sun and is sheltered from the wind would be better than one that's not, even if their pools were the same internal temps!

Also if you have a private pool with Gas pool heat and the blanket and you use the blanket every day! Then you will have a pool that is 84 degrees all the time to swim in! If you don't use the blanket then your pool heat just goes up in the air.... LOL
