Carter and LeCroy were "operating their vehicles in a manner consistent with racing" prior to the crash, police said, and LeCroy's vehicle was traveling 104 miles per hour – more than double the posted speed limit of 40 mph.

Carter, a projected top-five pick in next month's draft, had been slated to speak to reporters at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday morning but did not do so. His agent did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment.

Yeah, DS just told me. Good thing UGA football is a very lucrative business because they are about to pay out BIG BUCKS to Devin's family, as they should. UGA employee driving UGA vehicle with students polluted drunk street racing at unbelievable speeds ............... killing their son. And the others in the car will have big bills and likely trauma from the accident.

Hmmm, depending on what comes from the proof against Carter he might want to finish his education. Then again not like the NFL likely cares.

I think it will depend on where he was when the accident happened. It could be they were picked up racing on cameras but he dropped out prior to it happening. I read he claimed he could see her taillights but was not "at the accident" when it happened. I also saw it reported that there was a third car, Dodge Charger (not slow car) driven by another football player, who had been charged with street racing 5 days before the accident. What was his part? I feel like we have just seen a few pics and pieces from here and there but hopefully police have evidence that strings it together. No matter what UGA is going to be covering a very large bill, that likely will be impacted by Devin's potential NFL salary lost to his family.

Victoria Bowles has filed a lawsuit against the Georgia Athletics Association and against Jalen Carter.

It asserts that LeCroy did have permission to use the vehicle outside of her official duties.

It asserts Carter initially left the scene and did not attempt to render aid.

I think Jalen Carter may as well go ahead and get his checkbook out.

Bowles sustained multiple serious injuries in the crash including lumbar and rib fractures, a spinal cord injury and lacerations to the kidney and liver, the lawsuit stated. She also sustained a closed head injury with neurological damage and severe eye pain.
