Hi everyone.

Working on our Hawaii vacation for next year.

I've been on the www.vbro.com website looking at condos for our stay in Maui. There are soooo many, I admit I'm a bit intimidated.

So, any suggestions on condos in Maui? There will be 4 or us, two adults and two kids ages 10 and 11. I would prefer beachfront, but it's not a deal breaker. We are looking at staying 5 days on this island.

Thanks!!

Our absolute favorite to stay at is the Kaanpali Alii, beachfront at Kaanapali beach.

That's the one our travel agen recommended. It does look really nice. Thanks!!

The beach is absolutely gorgeous and you are in walking distance of not only several resorts for shopping and dining, but you also have Whaler's Village.

The condos themselves are large units, and very luxurious if you get one that has been updated.

If you do a google search, there are several condos that are rented privately by their owners rather than through a listing association, so you can save a few bucks.

We have stayed in a few places in Maui but our absolute favorite was the 2 bedroom condo in Kapalua Villas in Kapalua. They have different views for different prices; we did oceanfront and were no more than 50 feet from the beach. The condo was stunning, we had a huge lanaii and it was very quiet. It was a 10 minute drive into Kaanapali which we did every other day in the evening. We had daily maid service which was great.

We stayed at Kaemole Sands which is right across the street from Kaemole III. It was on the southwest side of the island, quiet, but it was nice to walk across the street to the beach.

Can I ask what the Whaler's Village is (I'm new to all this)?

Make sure 'oceanfront' actually has a full ocean front exposure. Hawaii is infamous for just giving you a peek or calling partial ocean view-oceanfront. Make sure. You will thank me later. :)

I have stayed at both the Kapalua Villas and The Ali'i and greatly prefer the Ali'i. Kapalua is beautiful but it is a bit isolated so you have to drive everywhere. Also, it is around the "point" of Maui so the weather can be quite different from Kaanapali. More than once, it was misty and overcast at Kapalua and sunny and perfect at Kaanapali.

The Ali'i is divine. Walk everywhere, tons of beach activities, sailing, snorkeling right off the beach at Black Rock, etc. The pool is nice and the units quite large. There are resorts up and down the beach and more than one had a luau, at least when I was there last.

Definitely go to Lalani's at Whalers Village. I have fond memories of relaxed lunches and excellent dinners there.

WAAAA, I wanna go back!!! ;) Have a fabulous time!

I also stayed at Kaanapali Beach but for about half the price and less luxury than the Ali: Kaanapali Shores. It was a two bedroom, ocean-front, nice pools for about $200-225/night through VRBO. They also rent directly. It is across the street from a decent market and close to the bus line into the downtown area if the teens want to go off on their own.

Thanks!! I'm off to check it out.

We've stayed at Kaanapali Shores twice through vrbo.com and both times the unit was wonderful! We paid $130 for a studio with a king plus a queen pullout, and the other time we stayed in a 1-bedroom plus queen pullout for about $160. The grounds are very pretty, and both were true oceanfront with spectacular views. If you want to see pics, let me know. :)
