Hi:
I know each DVC used to set up the assignments of condos a week or so ahead of arrival. I called OKW and the CM I spoke to said they have a new system and the rooms are assigned the day you check in. I found that hard to believe because how could they assign them all on the same day. I could be completely wrong and maybe they can. Has anyone heard this.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that were the case. It should be easy for them to do it that way,
I'd honestly think it's easier because that's real-time availability. The other way it's too dependent on everything going perfectly - absolutely no mechanical/plumbing issues in the room, the previous guests leaving a room extremely messy and/or damaged taking it out of inventory for longer, something happening and causing the previous guests to have to stay through, etc.

By assigning day-of they know what is available, and could even allow people not overly picky about their room location to get into an available room earlier.

That makes sense. It just surprised me. I like the idea that you could possibly get in your room earlier. We have been members since 1993 and in the past couple of years it’s usually close to 5:00 before we get in the room. It’s not a complaint because obviously I don’t know if they are short handed or have a larger than usual amount of check outs.

Even assigning day of can get you the room early. They just do it that morning and when it’s ready is based on when housekeeping gets it done.

I have to say that I love that DVC has room categories so you know what your getting (although they do miss the mark sometimes)

It was an absolute mess working at Marriott Vacatiom Club where all owners were promised ocean view rooms and then come to find out only a low percentage of rooms had that.

So many people would go to their rooms, see the view and come back and complain.

There was a seperate position called "rooms control" that we would then as front desk have to go to and tell them that "so and so" was unhappy with the room and then they would move them and we would have to go back outside and explain the room type and of course if it wasn't full ocean view they werent satisfied and on the back end it wasted so much time and it really was a puzzle and a headache for rooms control to have to move these rooms around all day.

It didn't help that even less oceanview rooms were available because we had a few people that had so many points they practically lived there and at the time these was no cap on that either, I'm not sure if there is now.

Please enter Poly Island Tower Theme Park view.

🤣

In that category there are amazing views like this one and others where you need to lean over the balcony and look on your right to see anywhere in the vicinity of the park. People often complain when they're assigned those rooms.

Bay Lake Tower also has rooms like this....

I know BLT has Lake view that you can lean over and see the castle but I thought all the theme park rooms now are actual theme park views.

Here is a 1st floor theme park view from touringplans.com/

That isn’t right because theme park view have never been 1st floor rooms and are only in the outer side near parking lot, center of resort.

This was our theme park view studio. 7th floor. You can see the castle if you are on the left side of the balcony looking right, or if you lean over of course.

I've decided it's not worth spending the extra points for theme park view anymore....

How did you call Old Key West? the resorts no longer have direct phone lines. Even ringing the front desk from your villa phone will call a central call center.
