Our plans have changed dramatically --- changed from early Feb. to early March which moves us from value to peak rates. Therefore, we are now looking at a moderate. Has anyone recently stayed in Alligator Bayou rooms at POR? I do not believe they have been renovated yet and wondered if they are looking a little shabby? We stayed in Mansions part about nine years ago and really enjoy it. I wanted to try something different.

Thanks for the info

Renee

Just booked there myself for Jan and was told, at time of booking, that these were refurbished last year..... We struggled with which moderate to go with but am now very excited about our choice. Hope you have a great time!

I stayed in bldg 16 in August. We had connecting rooms, both were very clean. Nothing looked worn out, no mold or mildew anywhere, and no bugs.

I was in AB in august as well, and I loved every part of it. I didn't think our room was worn at all. And we got a trundle/disabled room so it was huge for just the two of us.

You'll love it!

WE were there in Oct in bldg 17 then 14 both rooms were in great condition. I enjoyed everything about our stay. Only moved because had Grandmother with us and she could not walk far.

We stayed the first night in AB and the room wasn't very clean, the bed was broken and the ceiling fan clicked so bad we had to turn it off. We switched the following day to a MB plantation. What a difference! The room was clean, very nice, everything was working properly, no comparison. We were extremely pleased with the MB room!

we stayed in building 15 in late October, and our room had definitely NOT been refurbished. We should have asked for a different room, but for some reason did not.
I would stay there again, but if it were soon, I would specifically ask for a recently refurbished room.

We stayed there and it was the worst visit we hav ever had on property in over 30 visits. Everything was filthy. The bathtub and tile was covered in mildew, the wallpaper was peeling, an there were broken light fixtures everywhere. Dresser knobs were broken, an the sheets an blankets had stains of various shades on them. We did report this immediately, but because I was given a discounted room they would not move us. We have stayed at every resort on property, value to deluxe, and this is the only time we have ever had a problem with room cleanliness.

We stayed in alligator bayou building 38 in room 3851 to be precise and the room was not very clean as well. I had heard about the complaints previously and thought that it wouldn't happen to me but it did.
Some examples were, there was dust everywhere but really bad under the beds dark stains on carpet and stains all around the toilet on the floor, but for me the most shocking thing was the amount of times they changed the bedding, I know this from the thread about 6 months or so back about how sparsely they change the bedding, so what I did in the corner of each layer of bedding including the quilt cover I wrote a small number 4 with lead pencil and in the 14 days we were there all of the bedding was changed once, a sheet there and a sheet here was changed every 3 days, but the quilt cover was not changed at all in 14 days.
I am really not as obsessive as others about dust and daily beetle in the bath, but the toilet and the bedding thing really bothered me. I did not want to ring housekeeping and complain otherwise I would have to tell them I had been writing on the bedding and keeping track which makes me sound a bit anal so I just avoided the quilt cover like the plague!
Other that that, beautiful resort and extremely friendly staff and overall I would stay there again, with my trusty lead pencil! oh and she did eventually clean around the toilet on the fifth day but she left towel animals everyday!
Cheers!

Okay now I am a little scared. Where should we stay. We have stayed in Mansions already. (Seveal years ago when it was still DxL). We have stayed at CSR two years ago. CBR really does not appeal to me. The rooms look really basic from the pictures. Last year we stayed AKL conceirge and loved it. But peak rates are killing me. We have always traveled during value season. We want to stay with the Silver Plan if a package deal comes out during this time. I want to keep the WHOLE trip for six nights around $4,000.00 so I think we will need to stay at a moderate. If not I guess we can do a standard at WL with not add on.

Help I need you ideas.

I don't know how much help this will be but according to the staff I spoke to they are planning to re open French quarter in January and if they do, I would stay there again in a heart beat. It is the most quaint resort, smaller than the rest and is beautifully themed, we stayed there twice before and are now hooked on that big easy atmosphere.
We were supposed to stay there this time around but we were shunted to POR during the refit, oh yes, and all of the rooms will be nice and refurbished, oooh! we will be there again in 2005, cant wait!
I wish I had more info on the exact date of re opening but was told by several different people that it will be December or January latest. I wonder if there is a stand by list or something....
Cheers!

I'll be staying there one week from tomorrow (yippee!!), and will attempt to post a "live" report. I know we'll be in Alligator Bayou because there are five of us in the room.

For the record, this will be our fourth stay there, and we've never been less than pleased.

We were in Bldg. 14, room 1423 from 11/15 - 11/23. The room was great. Very clean. No complaints at all. I thought mousekeeping was a little slack but no problems with the room. This was our first visit to POR, my favorite being POFQ. After staying at POR, I would still give the edge to POFQ but really enjoyed our stay at POR.

I think on my next visit to POR, I might request Bldg. 18 which is at the quiet pool. Be careful about which building you are in. Some of them are so far from the main building you would have quite a walk to get to the food court. The food court was great. Nick, who was the bell ringer at POFQ, was working at POR. He was so excited we remembered him from POFQ. If any of you remember him, be sure to let him know.

Have a great visit. You'll enjoy POR.

We just returned a few weeks ago and stayed in room 2764 in the AB section. We had a water-view room, and although we had to travel a ways to get to the lobby (and bus stop), I felt the rooms were very clean and the grounds were also very clean and beautifully landscaped. There are 5 in our family (3 kids), and this was our only choice as far as a Disney moderate goes. I would recommend POR and the AB section anytime !
