Ok, so this is my first trip report, so no yelling if I did it wrong!

February 28th & 29th for MARDI GRAS!!:cheer2:

Cast : me, the seahag, age undisclosed, (old enough to know better!)but a child at heart.
also in attendance, DH, he's older than me & we will leave it at that !

Staying at the Portofino!
Not our 1st trip, so we pretty much know how to get around & where everything is.

We actually arrived on friday, but I can't find those notes (yes, :sad2: I take notes on vacation)

Saturday - woke up lazy & late  (it is vacation, after all) & went to breakfast at the Trattoria. (in the PBH) They have an amazing buffet & we ate our fill!

Off to Studios! - Headed for Jimmy Neutron (remember the "child at heart" mentioned earlier? Well, lets just say we both know all the characters & we have NO children!) It's a really fun ride & we both enjoyed the " dancing" ;) You all know what I mean!

Ran around Studios doing cool stuff, like eating key lime pie at 10 AM, going on JAWS & MIB - laughing at the girls who wear high heels/platform shoes, because honestly, what are you thinking ? :scratchin

Time to head for the hotel now, for naps & food.(not in that order!) The parade is tonight & we will be RIDING THE FLOATS!!!!

A few hours later, after food & napping, we headed back to studios. My tummy was a little grumbly, so I went to get a sprite. Sat over by the NY library & caught the tail end of a Ghostbusters show.
Hmmmmmmm, interesting, but overtly homosexual!
At least when I watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, I get fashion & decoration tips!!!! LOL
I can see others would enjoy the show, but, it's just not for me.
We did sit thru the end of that, & saw & chatted with Fly-Fly & her gang of Ghostbuster-loving gals!
(didn't tell Fly Fly what we thought of the GB's show - didn't want her to :faint: or :duck: throw tomatos at us!) LOL

After that, we wandered around, but were sticking close to the NY area waiting for the girl who gives out the wristbands for getting on the floats. I figured I better go use the restroom, as I would not have a chance later.

We met up with an employee that we know & had a chat with him. As he was not working that day, him & his son were going to ride the floats !!

FINALLY, after what seems like forever, the girl came out to hand out wristbands - boy did everyone run over to her ! :crowded: LOL, she is one popular lady!

Not on the same float as the employee that we know, because different wristbands say different things & we had AP wristbands & they (him & his son) had Guest Services wristbands.

Filled out the forms, got into costume, & we were on the GATOR!! the last float of the parade, & from what I understand, the original float from when HHN had a parade.

We must have thrown a MILLION beads & couldn't stop smiling - what a terrific experience! We will never forget it.

Parade was over, but KC & the Sunshine band were kicking into high gear - met up with the employee/friend & met his wife & daughter - hung out with them for a while, but DH's feet were tired, (silly boy wore new shoes! Yes, I told him not to) & it had been a long day. Back to the hotel we headed, picking up a refillable bucket of popcorn on the way out (which came in handy the next day for storing phones/cameras & other non-waterproof items on Popeyes!)

Off to dreamland for us - I swear I drempt of throwing beads to a huge crowd of people LOL

Look for Sunday's report next!!!

Seahag! I'm surprised you are saying the Ghostbusters are gay!!! Do you seriously think they are?! Some might be, but not all of them. THEY ARE ACTORS. They do it because it's a paying job. Entertainers at the park are paid quite well, and honestly, I'd have no problem dancing to "Macho Man" or "I'm Too Sexy" or something if I was paid to do it (actually, I take that back. Last couple weeks I've danced along anyway). I would have thought my DISboard buddies would know this all by now. Sure, some of the songs are girly songs....but it's supposed to make it funny, not gay.

Believe me...I talk to these guys. Some who seem more "feminine" in the show, act completely different when not performing...but they just do it for their character. One GIO (GIO4) looks absolutely adorable during the "Material Girl" because of his facial expressions, and seems to get really into it, but he's far from gay. I know a couple GBs are married, or have girlfriends. Faaaaar from gay. One GB has a high, cracking voice, like a little boy hitting puberty. In real life? As deep a voice as the next man.

(Sorry, I'm protective about my friends in the GB Show...but I hate it when people assume things just based on a show. How about that one actor who played the lead-male role in romance movies, and he turned out to be gay? Goes both ways. Just how they act in a show or movie, doesn't mean that's how they are in real life!)

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gays, so don't think that, but come on! Assuming such things without any facts is childish.

That's all I have to say.

Great report! I love it! You did a great job! Now to read the next one...post it!:D

It's never too late to post a trip report! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Highlander - didn't get to try the Zombie drink, but then I don't drink, so.......................LOL Have you had it , am I missing out ???? ;) :drinking1

Fly Fly - I think you need to calm down !!

You have my aplologies that my post was misunderstood. :(

I didn't say that anyone IS gay, I was expressing my opinion that the SHOW had homosexual tones. There is a big difference.
I do understand the concept of "acting" - however, I was talking about the content of the show, not the actors in the show. I would never assume to know someones sexual orientation, nor is it any of my business.
My DH & I both made comments to each other about the content & overtones of the show, but it has nothing to do with the paid employees who are in the show.
Please don't take it personally - I was in no way slamming your Ghostbuster friends, simply expresing my opinion of the show's content.

No hard feelings please, & again, I'm sorry my post was misunderstood.

Better late than never! I luv to read trip reports...don't care how old they are!!! thanks for posting.

curly  in need of professional help!

I was mainly offended about how you compared it to Queer Eye. I mean, the show wasn't THAT "gay." Where you missed half of the show, you missed some good stuff. You ought to see the holiday version... it's better, and they don't sing Man I Feel Like a Woman nor Material Girl....but they added those songs, because if it was just songs sung by guys, then...what's the humor????

Sorry, you just have caught me at a HORRIBLE time. I'm in a severely pissed off mood, and for no reason either. I think I need a good cry. But my mom was the one who told me about your trip report, and so she kind of got me fuming from the beginning.

Anyway, as you may have noticed...I've had my tag changed, and for good reason. I am a 'fan' of the guys, rather than the show. The show is hysterical, but now that I'm friends with them, I care more about them than the show, and so I've become rather protective. I know, they can really fend for themselves, and are quite used to it...but still...can't help it....

Glad I just misunderstood...it's not like I'm so uptight that I can't take jokes about the guys or show or anything. I have to deal with the Beetlejuice over at the Graveyard Revue, cracking jokes about the ghostbusters.

ugh...I don't know...

New shoes? There is no excuse for that! Did you have to rub his feet?
Last Friday we did Jimmy first thing. 3 of us and each had our own car and we "danced" like fools.
You have to be careful of who's baby you are calling ugly(or gay).

LOL!!! I warned him about the shoes - he wouldn't listen!
& no, there was no foot rubbing!
I just provided the band-aids!

Can't wait to get back on Jimmy & do the "dance"!!!

You have to be careful of who's baby you are calling ugly(or gay).
LMAO!

Haggy pirate:
