Is this restaurant closing? If so, will it reopen somewhere else in the hotel? If it's closing, does anyone know when?

The Contemporary's Concourse Steakhouse is scheduled to close for good May 31, 2008. The area will be rehabed into a new permanent quick service restaurant.

There are also plans to put a new restaurant downstairs where the fiesta food and fun center used to be (that has all now been brought upstairs to the Grand Canyon Concourse level). I beleive it is going to be called "The Wave" and is supposed to have some kind of Asian flair.

Personally, nothing I have heard about the new restaurant so far makes me want to try it. It was wonderful to go to Concourse Steakhouse and look up at the monorail when it went by and sit in the huge expanse of the Grand Canyon Concourse. It was also a great menu for those who might want something a little more basic. A restaurant down in the lower level of the Contemporary doesn't excite me at all.

I completely agree. I am just glad that we will be able to eat there one last time before it closes. Our reservations for May 25th have been made.

We won't be going back until August so we won't get one more dinner there. :sad1: I will miss it. Enjoy your dinner and your vacation. :)

That's the restaurant which is replacing the Concourse Steakhouse, it will just be in a different location and you are correct that it will be called The Wave. As for their menu it's been rumoured they will have an Asian themed menu, however that has not been confirmed yet.

We went to the CS last year and it was wonderful. I'm sad to see it go!

I've seen on some other posts that the Asian flair that the new restaurant "The Wave" was to have, has been scrapped, but nothing has been confirmed.

WDW released this info today regarding The Wave:

This summer, The Wave debuts at Disney's Contemporary Resort, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located on the first floor with a superlounge, the upscale restaurant will offer bold American cooking with flavors from all over the world. The seasonal menu will feature local and regional products when possible, organic beers and trendy cocktails such as the "antioxidant cosmo" with açai juice. The innovative wine list has a quirky claim to fame -- all screw caps, no corks. Cutting-edge wines from around the globe will be showcased.

We are also sad to see the Concourse Steakhouse go :sad1: .

That restaurant was always a "must do" during any Disney visit. We loved having dinner with the monorail passing overhead (and the slight "shake" of the table as it went by :thumbsup2 ). Very sad. I don't think this was a good decision on the part of Disney.

Does anyone know when the new restaurant is scheduled to open? We will be there June 12 for 8 days....I don't think it would happen that fast..but it is Disney afterall...lol

:)

If I were to guess I would say sometime in June because they would need to 1st close the Concourse Steakhouse. However it's hard to say when because we can't see how the construction is going, since it's covered up by a huge wall. So we would not know if they ran into problems and etc.
