Hi
Which is better for a steak dinner? It will just be my DH and myself in December. I've been to LeCellier, but not Concourse. Opinions please. Thanks!!

You know what's funny? I've never eaten at either, yet I am ready to give my suggestion based on reading the Dis religiously for several months.

And then I am like, "No, Kristen, you can't chime in, you haven't eaten at them (yet)."

I just thought that was funny. I FEEL like I have eaten at pretty much every place in WDW because everyone gives such wonderful reviews.

We were at both places in early March. I've been to LeCellier a few times over the past few years and we tried Concourse for the first time in early March. Out of our entire party of 7, everyone enjoyed the meal at Concourse more than LeCellier. Not only were the filets better, but their appetizers and desserts were better too. It's funny because this was the ADR I almost changed a number of times; I'm so glad I didn't and so was my family.

We have eaten at both Le Cellier and Concourse. While my DH and I enjoyed the food at both, I would say Le Cellier-the atmosphere there is much more relaxing. The Concourse is right next to Chef Mickey's and with no "real" walls between the two, the hoop la la from CM can been heard when dining at The Concourse. :upsidedow

I've only been to Le Cellier but will be going to both on our upcoming trip. Le Cellier is excellent if you love steaks. People I have talked to say Concourse is equally good.

Sidenote: We booked our ADR's a few weeks ago and could not get into Le Cellier so made an ADR for elsewhere. We called every couple days and yesterday was able to get Le Cellier for dinner. I wasn't picky as to which night so just kept asking for any night during our stay. So keep calling!!

We tried Le Cellier last year and thought it was good but not great. The pretzel breadsticks and cheddar soup were the best part of the meal:thumbsup2 . This year we are trying Concourse for the first time on Father's Day (DH is really excited about that:woohoo: ). Happy planning!!

Have eaten both on several occasions and prefer Concourse.

I don't think the Concourse Steakhouse will still be open in December. I'm not sure when exactly it's closing. But if it was still open for you, I'd vote that!

Here is the schedule of renovations for the Contemporary and it says when the Concourse Steakhouse will be closing.

August 2007 - Newly renovated Fantasia Shop will re-open.

June 11, 2007 through November 2007 - The Lobby will undergo partitioned refurbishments to update the area's image and decor.

July 2007 through October 2007 - The resort's grounds will undergo partitioned refurbishments to install new landscaping and re-route existing guests paths.

July 30, 2007 through April 2008 - The Food & Fun Center will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as a new table service option, "The Wave". During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

April 2008 through August 14, 2008 -The Concourse Steak house will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as the new Counter Service location for the resort. Le Cellier over Concourse

DH's favorite steak dinner was the Buffalo steak at Artist Point at the WL. (I had the cedar plank King salmon-yumm)

Did I read that right?? Is the Concourse Steakhouse closing for good and becoming a counterservice??

Yes. They are moving the restaurant down to where the Food and Fun Center is and turning it into an Asian themed restaurant named "Wave" or something like that. They are then turning the area where the CS is right now into a counter service place. Horrible huh? :sad1: :sad2:

Le Cellier!

Loved the pretzel bread and cheese soup.

My experience with Concourse Steakhouse was not good (undercooked food), slooooowww service . . .

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll be making my ADR's in June and will probably make it at LeCellier. I didn't know that Concourse would be closing. The atmosphere at LeCellier seems like it might be a little more quiet than at Concourse. I'll be going to quite a few of the buffets in August with my DGD (4) and DD, so I'll be ready for a change of atmosphere in December. Thanks again.:goodvibes

I was debating between Le Cellier & Concourse for our August trip too. I chose LC. Now I guess I will never get the chance to go to CS...too bad.

We went to the Concourse last year and we thought it was excellent. We're going again this year and were lucky to be able to get an ADR at LeCel this year, too!!:cool1: If you do try the Concourse, be SURE to have the pan-seared scallops as an appetizer. You only get two, but they're YUMMO.

Le Cellier is always a favorite of ours and we will be going back again in Nov/Dec. This past April we ate dinner at both restaurants and enjoyed the meals at each for different reasons. It's really up to you on what you'd like to experience. You definitely hear a lot of sounds at the Concourse Steakhouse between the monorail riding through and being next door to Chef Mickey's however I don't recall Le Cellier actually being that quiet either.
