Concourse Steakhouse for lunch / pros & cons?

I'd really appreciate any good/bad reviews of doing lunch here, as I've never eaten at the Contemporary. I'd appreciate any comments, as I'll be heading to WDW in 39 days. Thanx!

We had dinner there in October. In 30 years of going to Disney World, it was our first time inside the CR. The food and service were both excellent, steaks and desserts were wonderful. It was interesting to check out the resort while we were there, it's very dramatic, tho I don't think we'd stay there because the theme seems a bit cold to us. Would definately eat at Concourse again, especially on the meal plan.

We had lunch at the Concourse Steakhouse in early Dec. It's very convenient to take the monorail over from the Magic Kingdom. I would recommend checking the menu before you go as it's fairly limited. The food and service were both excellent. After lunch we caught a bus to MGM and spent the rest of the day there. Again, very convenient. It was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the parks. We also spent about an hour checking out the shops in the Contemporary. I saw some things there that I didn't see other places.

I travel solo. Would you consider that a good 'solo lunching' spot, by chance? I usually go to Mama Melrose's and Sci Fi at the Studios, LeCellier in Canada at Epcot, and Pecos Bills at the MK.

On the day of our departure, we tried to use our remaining TS credits at Chef Mickeys for breakfast, but were unable to get in. Disappointed and hungry, we waited until Concourse Steakhouse opened for lunch and had the best meal of our entire trip! I had the onion soup (delicious and rich) to start, followed by a NY strip that was absolute steak perfection! The mashed potatoes were also delicious. I finished the meal with an incredible butterfinger cheesecake that was large enough for two to share. My husband had some sort of seafood appetizer and a fish entree which he ate every morsel of (I don't eat seafood so I didn't try it) but the pineapple-coconut couscous that accompanied it was amazing! Our DD 13 had a filet that was outstanding and our other DD 7 shared my meal and we were both stuffed. The service was both friendly and professional - this was a rarity on our trip as we used the DDP. Definately worth a trip. We were seated as soon as they opened for lunch and by the time we left the place was half-full. A solo diner would be very comfortable with the atmosphere, although the overhead monorail may be distracting if one was trying to work through lunch.

I think it's a great choice. I wouldn't call it the meal of a lifetime, but it's fun to be inside the CR with the monorail going by. Also there is some terrific shopping in the CR (I'm thinking of the row of shops with the candy on one end and the men's clothing on the other end). There is an air of originality to the CR as it was there when WDW opened.

I've dined solo at Concourse and it's very pleasant (I did a very late breakfast, though). One huge pro with going to Concourse at lunch is that Chef Mickey's is empty so no noise from over there. Very relaxing and very nice. Worth a try if you like the menu.

Thanks so much for your input. Just may have to try Concourse for lunch when I return in 3 1/2 weeks! You all are the best!!!
