concourse steakhouse - bad experience!
Just back from a mini WDW tour (6 days) with a group of family members.

I wanted to report that on the last night of our stay we ate at the concourse steakhouse in the contemporary. Everyone in the group agreed that the meal had to have rated as one of the WORST meals we have EVER had! Filed a complaint with the manager and front desk of our resort. It really spoiled the ending on a great vacation....

Really I only have myself to blame. I didn't check here first before we left to find out where to eat. Although from doing a quick search it looks like others have had positive experiences.

Were we just singled out, or are there others who have had bad or poor experiences at this restaurants?

We had a poor experience a couple years ago with Concourse Steak House and probably will not go back.

The service was really terrible and it wasn't even busy. It took forever to get our order together. We were there a very very long time. The food was just o.k., but nothing to write home about.

I found it always best to try things myself before taking into account what other people think and you are better off that you tried it and made your own assumption.

Sorry you didn't enjoy your last dinner at WDW, but there is always the next time . . .::yes::

Wow, I have had dinner there twice and enjoyed it both times and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. I guess it shows that it's possible to have a bad experience anywhere at times.

You didn't say what was bad about it....?

Sorry you had a bad exp, and hope to hear what went wrong!

Basically what was listed above to everyone else sums up what happened. Took two hours to run the course of the entire meal. Had prime rib, and zero favor and was extremely tough. Also ordered a salad, and it made McDonalds salads look good - I never thought I would say that!
Manager was unhelpful and unwilling to provide a refund - although I did not push, I wanted to enjoy what was left of the vacation. That will be noted in the letter that I will be sending to Disney. Anyone have any recommendations on the best way to send a complaint to Disney?

You can get on to disneyworld.com and somewhere in there you can send an e-mail to Guest Relations. I have done this in the past and have always received replies. On two occasions I received phone calls from Disney about my complaints. Once it was someone from the Disney Executive Office and we had a very nice conversation about the situation that I contacted them about.

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. We had dinner there on Valentine's evening this year (9 of us) and it was wonderful. We also had lunch there back over the Christmas holidays and it too was very good. We had previously had dinner there a few years ago and I remember it was also very good. I certainly hope this was just an off nite. It's one of our hidden gems.

This restaurant is notoriously hit and miss. My parents dined there two years ago and my mother was nearly sent to the hospital as a result of food poisoning from eating a lobster bisque (which is still on the menu). The CM's at Ft Wilderness behaved quite well, making note of where and what she ate. Maybe they got hold of the chef, hog-tied him, and forced him to eat his own spoiled bisque.

On the other hand, my friends and I had a nice lunch there in February. The burgers are the best in WDW. Breakfast is pretty good too.

The lesson? Stay away from the more ambitious menu items.

Bingo.

DH and I went there for lunch one day...place was DEAD...maybe 4 other tables had people at them. There were about a zillion CM's walking around though...yet it still took forever to get our lunch of a grilled chicken sandwhich (me) and pizza/salad (DH).

I've had better food at counter service.

We had a bad experience there also. I doubt we would go back there.

Our service was very slow, although there wasn't many people there.
Our server wasn't very good either.

We didn't have any problems with our food, Thank Goodness, but then again we ordered very simple stuff ;)

Thanks for giving more info on your exp... I'm so sorry you weren't able to get a credit back, I hope Disney comes through for you. Sounds ridiculous, esp since I know it wasn't cheap.

We'll be sure and avoid that steakhouse... we've never eaten there, but now have a reason why not too! We spend too much $ on food at Disney to eat at hit and miss places, you know?

6 days is a mini tour? How long is the real deal, LOL!

Sorry to hear about the meal.

It's a mini tour because it impossible to see ALL of WDW in that amount of time! We arrived on Friday night (3pm) did MK, last day at the parks was Tuesday, and departed Wed afternoon. Were able to get stops in AK, EPCOT, MGM, MK, BB and DD. Only missed TL - but that is because most of the group didn’t like blizzard beach. (it was just TOO crowded)

Wonder if anyone knows how long it would take?!

We did the Concourse Steakhouse in Dec of 02 and Nov of 03- both times for dinner and both times excellent meals. The service was a bit slow IIRC, but not enough to complain about. Love the hickry smoked prime rib!

I haven't eaten at Concourse so I really can't comment on it. But my question is, did you ask the waiter (waitress) to bring you something else? I have never hesitated to let my server know if there is something that is so bad that I can't eat it. Although I don't do it often, I have never yet had a problem having something else brought to me at no additional cost. Prices are too expensive not to get a meal that is edible.

sotoalf - that was very brave of you to go to Concourse after your mother's experience. If I ever go, I will be sure to stay away from the lobster bisque!

After spending an hour an a haft waiting for the food, even if the server had offered a different choice I was going to wait longer to get out of there!

There is no way I would wait an hour and a half for food. I would have gotten up and left after half an hour and just grabbed something at the food court - sounds to me as if it would have been a better meal for much less money. Once when I had slow service, after about 20 minutes of waiting I informed another server (mine had mysteriously disappeared) that I had an appointment and if I didn't have my order within the next 5 minutes or so I would have to leave and she would need to cancel the order. Amazingly my order appeared within 3 minutes.

Oh no! Just made a PS for DH's birthday here for Sept. Looks like I better cancel it!

Harambe, that is such a hard call to make. I wouldn't want to see anyone's special occasion ruined but I and some others have had good experiences there.
Tough call either way, as stated before this just shows that at even good places you can occasionally have a bad experience.
